I think Sullinger is going to be able to step in and contribute next year...he just looks so much on a different level than the other Rookies playing in that game(perry looked good too)

Sully has a big lower body that he needs to thin out a bit. His upper body doesn't need to get any slimmer. He needs to avoid squatting and just run instead.

I don't know if someone already made this comparison, but watching him play, he reminds me a bit of al jefferson, right hand version, a little slower, but some similar moves.

I don't think he's anything like Big AL, who is purely a low post player.  Sully seems to have an all around game.  he looked very comfortable shooting the threeball.  he drove from the three point line and got to the hoop.  These are things Big AL doesn't do.

Nice story about a Framhingham MA guy who has been coaching Sullinger since the big guy was a fat eighth grader

Well said.

It's insane how complete he is. He can pass (he lobbed it to E'Twaun in the post, of all things. Al is a black hole and can't pass), he can face up, he played defense against a 7 footer (granted, Cole Aldridge wasn't great).

I believe Al has a mid-range shot though.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.

From Rick Kamala Of NBA TV with two minutes left in the game said this.

"Very skilled, very soft touch, takes contact in the air and finishes. To me he's some professional NBA conditioning and training away from being a total Stud in the NBA".

My take on this total stud in the NBA are strong words. I'm not ready to go that far, but his point is spot on. If he can loose 20 pounds of fat and trade it for fifteen pounds of muscle he's gonna be great. Not to mention add three inches on his Vertical and the skies the limit.

Good luck Jared, Kevin's gonna have fun with you.

Everything you said is spot on.

I do disagree however about losing 20 lbs. I like how he's built. He looks in control with that big body and the way he plays, that big body of his is a HUGE (no pun intended) weapon for him. I like him bullying people down low, and I can make the case that he am out muscle some of the PF's in the NBA right now. I would like him to keep that wide frame, he knows how to use it and it'll be instrumental to his success.

He has more potential than BBD if he can avoid some of BBD's conditioning issues. He is not a great athlete. Kind of like PP not being a typical wing. Not sure he has Pierce's explosiveness though.

Doesn't need it if he can bull his way into the paint like that or force opponents to come out on his jumper.

I'm sticking with my Boozer comparison, especially after we saw him play some D at center. ;)

Oh no don't diss Sullinger like that haha

In Boozer's best season, he averaged 21/12 while shooting 56%, and led his team to the Conference Finals.  It's not a diss.

Boozer's a great comparison. If he turns out to be that, I'd be thrilled.

I compare him to our own man, Brandon Bass. Except without the explosiveness around the rim, but more finese like & Sully the better rebounder.

I think Jared Sullinger will help BOS right away, no doubt. He's ready. I'm sure he won't put up 20 and 8 every night, but as long as Doc cuts him loose he will get it done.

He can put the ball in the hole, plain and simple. Can't wait to seem him getting opposing frontlines in foul trouble. He's smart, he has a chip on his shoulder.

He could lose a few pounds, sure, but that will come in time.

Just thinking of how quick him, Jeff Green, and Jet can jell coming off the bench - Doc has a GOOD problem, there.

I just see no reason why Jared WON'T get some decent PT with the 2nd unit. God forbid Bass gets dinged up, I have no fear in Doc cutting Jared loose for a bit.

with this guy playing 30 minutes a game we would have beat Miami.
Kg 34, Sullinger 30, Bass 32 takes care of the 4 and 5. We need to be even better next year, by as much as we can get, but getting this guys is like ending the season knowing we were going to get the 2nd pick. No idea what all these gms were thinking. Just crazy.
