extra weight is good for sully. He needs it to get his shot off down low. Losing weight his soph year hurt his game. Just needs to tone up a bit, but hes an nba center/pf right now.

agreed. he is not fat at all. Does everyone expect him to be a beanpole. WHere is his fat overlapping gut? Or flabby arms? I do not see it. Hell there are guys much shorter than him in the NFL that weigh over 300 and have tons of muscle. we need his size down low to bounce skinny dudes like boshtrich and the like out of our way.

yeah man. Imagine zeller, nicholson, or pj3 trying to man him up down low.

Even anthony davis and henson will have major problems with sullinger down low, and at least get worn out.

Opposing bigs are in for trouble. Foul trouble. Sully got to the line at a higher rate than anybody in college.

I thought it was too absurd for me to mention before but now with these lofty comparisons, I think it's fair for me to say... you guys don't see a little bit of Kevin Love in this kid?

It was the same thing with Love coming out of college: He produced big time at UCLA but his lack of athleticism and weight issues had us wondering if he'd ever even make an All-Star team.

Long story short, he lost weight, fine tuned his shot and is now one of the game's top seven players if not better than that.

You guys don't see the same in Sullinger? A big body, probably will play a lot more PF than C sure but can move guys around down there no matter how tall on sheer strength. Didn't see much of it today but I'm convinced that his biggest contribution at least from the start will be his uncanny ability to gobble up boards, like Love. Hell, without Sullinger's back issues he probably would have been drafted around the same area as Love as well.

Sully can also shoot. I'm not going to be go crazy about one made open three in a Summer League game but I am intrigued that he was confident enough to step out to take two legitimate shots from that range.

Paul Silas, Kevin Love... these are the names that come to mind when I see Sullinger play. Whether or not he'll ever reach that level is unknown and probably unlikely. But I'll take a poor man's Kevin Love with the 21st pick any day.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

love is a touch quicker twitch, and obviously developed a lethal 3pt shot.

Whether you want to compare him to love, randolph, brand, or boozer, just compare him to a good player!

Hes a key building block, and the indifference to the pick was based in ignorance.

yep. you wear out skinnier guys and with his size he should draw many fouls down low going to the rack. They won't be able to out muscle him so they will be jumping up trying to get blocks and coming down on him fouling him. His body will be his shield down low to get off shots and draw fouls similar to BBD.

Throw out the points, rebounds, free throws, & stats...

Sullinger flat out looks ready to contribute already.  You can tell just by the way he plays the game, the fluidness, the positioning, the maturity....He's further along than I thought.

He can flat out play this game and fits in perfectly for what this Celtic team needs.
agreed and jjj is heading somewhere but in 1 game sully has moved a fair amount ahead on backup pf list, i'd say by the end of training camp sully will be in the rotation

There's a considerable difference between mass and lean muscle mass. Sullinger needs to develop a more athletic physique. I'm sure a few NBA pre-seasons will help him along.

I tend to agree with this.  If 15 lbs turned in to sculpted muscle power it would be great.  But him losing 20 lbs and just getting thinner might not help.  He needs that frame, that size down low since he isn't going to leap out of the gym.  But I am all for all of our players becoming more fit.  Probably would help with his quickness on d rotations and pick and roll.

He could lose maybe 15 more pounds but agree needs to be done by sculpting his body into leaner body fat more muscle.   He played smart but personally I was more impressed by Jones3.   Sully, I knew he knew how to play.  One thing I noted is that he didn't play much versus Jones.  I think the outcome would have been a lot different getting off his shot than what it was in the game.   He looked good though.

I'm sticking with my Boozer comparison, especially after we saw him play some D at center. ;)

Oh no don't diss Sullinger like that haha

He is not fat no, but slimming down to about 245 would probably be his ideal weight. Still big enough to bang around with the other bigs, but light enough to increase his athleticism and reduce potential back problems. He is a good height at a legit 6'9, with long as hell arms. With better mobility I think he will do really well, hopefully even this year. And it is nice to have a player who doesn't need to gain weight, because losing weight is way easier for an athlete than gaining weight.

In Boozer's best season, he averaged 21/12 while shooting 56%, and led his team to the Conference Finals.  It's not a diss.

I think Jared Sullinger will help BOS right away, no doubt. He's ready. I'm sure he won't put up 20 and 8 every night, but as long as Doc cuts him loose he will get it done.

He can put the ball in the hole, plain and simple. Can't wait to seem him getting opposing frontlines in foul trouble. He's smart, he has a chip on his shoulder.

He could lose a few pounds, sure, but that will come in time.

Just thinking of how quick him, Jeff Green, and Jet can jell coming off the bench - Doc has a GOOD problem, there.

I just see no reason why Jared WON'T get some decent PT with the 2nd unit. God forbid Bass gets dinged up, I have no fear in Doc cutting Jared loose for a bit.
