I like what I saw from Sullinger. He could stand to lose some weight, but fortunately he seems to have the work ethic and the will to do it. A couple of his made shots were difficult. Can he continue to hit tough shots? I'd also like to see him show an ability to create a good look inside against length - I'm pleased with his ability to shoot, but honestly I'm more interested in him as a post player. We have enough jumpshooters. I did like his ability to get to the line and convert free throws - we sorely need that.
LOVED what I saw from Melo, although maybe this is because I wasn't expecting much. That's not to say I think he'll step right in and be a factor. He's still a project. But I saw reasons to be hopeful. He has good instincts on defense, good timing on contesting shots, and very impressive quickness for his size. Can he maintain that quickness while bulking up to battle in the low post and on the glass? He has a long way to go to become a rotation player, but I see reasons for optimism in him - he has certain things that you can't teach, and I attribute most of his flaws to youth and lack of experience. He can be a solid asset if he puts in the work.
Not sure what to think of Kris Joseph yet. I'd like to see what he can do in a more structured setting (this goes for all three of the new draftees).
Sean Williams is a loose cannon. Looks like a gamechanger on one play, makes a boneheaded play the next. Unfortunately, I'm starting to believe that this is just what he is and that it won't change. I'd love to see him prove me wrong because we need depth at the 5, but I don't think he can do it - just seems to lack basketball intelligence.
Didn't like what I saw from the two picks from last year - I've voiced my thoughts on them elsewhere. In my opinion, they both face steep uphill battles to becoming rotation-worthy players on a good NBA team.
