Jeff Green vs Ryan Anderson

It appears Ryan Anderson got the same contract (4 yr 36 mil) as Jeff Green. They both play "power 3"/"stretch 4". Anderson is a better 3 PT scorer and more efficient overall (better PER), but Green is the more versatile offensive player and a better defender.

Everyone still think Green is overpaid or is he maybe getting fair value in light of Ryan Anderson's deal?

If Ryan Anderson is your starting PF, then something is wrong.

Given the SF situation in the Eastern Conference, you need as much quality wing depth as possible, especially if you're playing against LeBron (who gets foul calls if you even look at him). 

We can complain about the length and amount of Green's contract, but he fulfills a giant need for the C's roster and I personally think that it was a good deal.

From a PER perspective Anderson is the better deal.  But we all know that PER does weight offense more vs. defense.  Still I would rather have Anderson at that money.  This doesn't mean I don't want Jeff Green at that money.  I do.

This is what you have to pay guys at this level in the NBA.  Sometimes you find diamonds in the rough but it is rare.  Green's deal is a bit more than I'd like but not cap crippling and not for 6 years.  If he plays well he (a) earns his money, and (b) becomes an valuable trade piece

Very different type of player.

Ryan Anderson is a one position player and a stretch four at that. Jeff Green is a two position player who is primarily a small forward (the power three) and secondarily an undersized-quick power forward (not a stretch four). Even when Jeff Green is used as a PF, he plays the position very differently.

Ryan Anderson was overpaid. Not worth that contract, $9 mil per annum. Value wise, Anderson should be paid more along the lines of $6mil as a starter + even less as a backup PF (his best role due to his limitations as a defender/rebounder and shot-creator).

I don't even think Green is as overpaid as some have said. If the Asiks of the world get close to 30 million, then Green is just fine at 36.

Jeff has all the physical tools to be an elite defender.  I think he will improve his D immensely with a full season playing in our defensive system.

I see the potential for a Luol Deng type career for Jeff Green as a Celtic.

I think Ryan Anderson is a huge bargain at that price.  I think a stretch four who was Orlando's best offensive rebounder (11th in the league in offensive rebounding percentage) would have been a good fit.  Ryan Anderson hitting a trailing three in transition would have become a key play in a Rondo-centric offense.  From what I understand, Orlando fans seem to think he grasped SVG's defensive schemes better than Brandon Bass in Orlando.

Green IF he plays like I think he can , is super athletic , he can run and jump like a deer , he is explosive and can guard LeBrickster..  They are much different..
