  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
a dooling/jjj/sean/moore/cash package plus picks would work.

rockets could buy out dooling and keep the picks plus jjj and etwaun if they wanted to.

etwuan and sean are not guarrenteed if there off the roster before the end of summer league

the 7,223,122,878 time can't sign and trade krstic

and i doubt the rockets would want bass, as they drafted 4 yes 4 power forwards in the last 3 drafts, plus they have scola.

plus we already agreeded to sign bass, can't see ainge backing out, would tick off the agent and player which you don't want to do.

It could work with in a three way deal with Miami, though, in the Ray Allen deal. I don't know that Miami would really love this, as they want Camby, but they also want Allen (I know they already have him, but he would prefer fair market value, I am sure). Still, I am not sold on Bass sticking around.

Now, how do we work out a sign and trade to pick up both of them? Thats the question.

Totally guessing but possible candidates on the C's end:
Bass
Krstic
JaJuan
Melo

Not sure why/if Houston would be interested in any of them.

Again, the only people you can S&T are people who were on the team to end last season. Kristic can not be sign and traded... it's been said MANY times in nearly every thread since Ray left.

Take it easy now.   :o

I must have missed this in the other threads but thank you for pointing this out.  I thought since we still own Krstic's bird rights he could still be signed and then traded to another team.  My bad.

It'd an either-or situation. The numbers don't add up, and the Celtics don't have anything of value to offer Houston. Danny Ainge is genius. He could work his magic here.

Don't ever say NEVER ....unless you want Danny's job?

I would be surprize if the owner is ticked off enough to pay the luxury tax to get who he needs to beat the creeps in South Beach

I think a s&t with dallas is more likely, even though there haven't been any rumors yet, think ainge is trying with houston first but if he can't he try with dallas, we may not be able to have enough $$$ to s&t terry and mahinmi, but a carter/terry deal may work(i know people hate vince, but his better than getting gerald or cj miles) and leave the MLE to go after bigs. In this sceranio they go after krstic and probably someonelse with the tax player MLE or match steamer and sign another big with what left the full MLE or just sign a big with the Full MLE and sign someonelse with the vet min/BAE. Think dallas will accomdate as there saving there ammo for next year and cheap rookies, buyouts and picks will interest them

Bass is better than anyone Miami can offer. I think coupling him with JJJ and Moore, they'd then have three young pieces to go toward Houston's youth movement.

We'd have to give up draft picks. Probably a few next year, as well as salary. That pretty much has to mean JJJ, and probably also an S&T with one of our free agents. I don't see who is expendable - except for Stiensma.

The guys we just signed need to stay, since the Ray leaving thing hits Danny's reputation as a GM.

According to Roy (in another thread):
1. Reportedly Camby is looking for the tax payer mle: ~3m
2. Reportedly Lee is looking for the mle: ~5m

I think: Dooling, JJJ, Moore, Williams gets you close to 8m. With 3m in the deal the rockets are only taking on 1m in committed salary. I'd guess we throw in one good asset: 2013 1st, 2013 CHA 2nd, future first protected, or maybe Melo (if they like him) and one OK asset: our 2013 or 2014 2nd rounder. Since HOU buys picks frequently this would be a good deal for them.
