If the C's sign Krstic, it could be tough for him to get as much playing time here this year, however.
Once again, why does anyone think we're even entertaining the idea of signing Krstic?

Because we have his bird rights and could use Allen's money to sign him?

Screw him. He doesn't want to play here anyway. Let him continue to be a career loser/journeyman elsewhere.

This is what Ainge said following the 2010-11 season:

Quote
“So here’s what happened with Krstic,” Danny Ainge said. “Krstic played great when he first got here, and then he hit a slump. He wasn’t playing well for a while, and then he got hurt,” Ainge said after the season. “He had the bruised knee — we were worried that it (was) something worse. With all of the injuries, it seemed like whoever was playing center for us this year got hurt. So he got hurt and he never really got his starting job back after he got hurt, and then he got hurt again on a different knee. He had two bruised knees.”

Plus, like others have said we have his Bird Rights. We could sign him to a 6m 1 yr deal and if he doesn't produce we can trade him at the deadline, along with draft picks and/or cash, for a piece on a non-contender (think Varejao). It would work out well for Krstic as he gets a nice 1 yr deal, more than anyone is likely willing to offer, and he could showcase himself for a longterm deal.

As I understand it, we cannot use Krstic in a sign and trade because he was not on the the team last year so I just don't see what options we are going to have to sign OJ Mayo.

I suppose if we could somehow convert the Jason Terry signing to a S&T then we would have the MLE (barely if we backload Green and Bass some) but where are we going to get the $4M in contracts to send back?  Just for instance, it would take Bradley, JJJ, and Sullinger (and rookies probably have some limitations).  We are not going to give up that for OJ Mayo I hope.

We will add Pietrus if we are lucky (I don't even think we can afford Gerald Green) and then Moore and Sean Williams will round out the roster.  Not great, not bad.  We have to hope that one of Sully and Melo really surprise.

But we don't even know if he's going to return to the NBA at all, let along the Celtics...

I have to say I wasn't real impressed with Krstic last season.  He was a liability on offense because he pretty much had butter fingers and couldn't hold on to the ball, and he was a liability on defense because well..he couldn't defend to save his life.

That said if we had the chance in our current position I'd still probably take him.  He did at least rebound at a good rate (which we could defiantely use) and he's big (wich we could also use).  Plus if he's only getting 15-20 mins behind KG on the second unit, his offensive and defensive deficiencies won't really hurt us AS much as they did when he was starting.

I'd still rather have Wilcox + Stiemsma, but the possibility of getting both of those guys is looking slim lately.  Hell to be honest, I'd rather have eiher one of those guys ofer Krstic...

Bruised knee?

Yeah, I remember at the time there were whispers that it was torn. However, the MRI proved otherwise.

Now THAT is a guy I'd love for us to get!

Tough, big, exceptonal rebounder, great defender, not 40 years old.

If we could pull off a trade for Varejao (Cleveland are in rebuild mod and probably want youth) I'd be a happy man.

Look at going after Mayo as just gathering another chip.

I'd love for this to happen but I don't see a plausible scenario to make it happen.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Once again, zero indication that we're interested in signing Nenad Krstic in 2012-13. How does a two-year old quote about Krstic's injuries have anything to do with our current personnel decisions?!

Danny did mention Kristin on WEEI following the celts loss to the heat as a possibility.  Definitely on Danny's radar

OJ Mayo is redundant with Jason Terry here. I'd rather sign a defensive SG.

And OJ Mayo is far from redundant. He is more of a slasher while JET is the perimeter shooter. Who knows if it will happen, we will just have to see.
JET beats more people off the dribble than Mayo.  Mayo's free throw attempts are absurdly low.
