I'm gonna Amare an extinguisher if Green got 4 years $40 million.
Does Wyc cut a check to all Celtics fans for the difference if Green signs for less? If not, I don't get all the outrage.
He'll have to suck pretty bad for a $10 million a year contract to be unmovable. That's chump change in today's NBA.
His condition combined with his last contract makes this proposed deal ludicrous. I take vested interest in how Celtics spend because we are essentially dealing with a hard cap going forward. From what I understand, if we stay under the LT the big MLE will be available to us next year too. That's a major tool that can help feed this team more talent if not hindered by an above market contract like the one being suggested.
That's about the only thing I worry about. But I'm pretty sure that with Green's 9 million deal, we'd still be under that apron now that Ray is gone.
If my calculations are near enough, with the inclusion of Green and Terry, we'd be at around $64.5 million this year (playing it a bit loosely). That's 9.5 million to go to reach this year's estimated apron (maybe it'd be more). We'd have 10 players under contract and 5 to go, with the BAE still at hand.
So options left would be Moore which adds .7 million. Joseph, who adds .5 (I'm not sure if his contract is already guaranteed).
The last 3 are open game to vet minimum guys and the BAE, we'd still be quite under the apron for this year alone, and probably next year.
We'd have to see if DA does any trades, particularly ones that include S&T.
But as it stands, we still got plenty room to maneuver even if we give Green that "atrocious" 9-10 per year contract.
