he literally became a ring chasing old geezer overnight. good riddance, you cant even make free throws anymore, and a 20 year old sophomore got the starting gig over you.

There was never a time in this process where I felt Danny really made Ray feel appreciated.

I thought there was a lack of effort from the front office to keep Ray around and I am disappointed by that.

Really?  They called him the #1 priority.  Doc was apparently running a full court press.

I think Ray was just too bitter to be consoled.  You don't ask for 3/27 and then sign for 3/9 with a rival just because the front office didn't lay out the red carpet.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams

Lebron and Rick Ross on Twitter welcoming Ray to Miami lol

Disgusting but Miami definitely knows how to make a guy feel wanted.

that insane contract demand says it all...thanks for the 5 years, ray, but screw you for this. leave us for more money. leave us for more playing time. but this? expect (and deserve) the boos that will serenade on you when you return to boston.

I may be in the minority here but I truly believe that Ray will eventually regret this decision.  He is a sure-fire HOFer but he blew his chance of being a truly beloved/idolized player by any fan base.  His legacy in Boston will surely take a hit, I doubt he is going to be idolized by Sonic or Buck fans and it's unlikely he will be by Heat fans either.

I think you're right.

He honestly has a better shot at getting a ring in MIA, but his shot here is nearly as good and you preserve your legacy in Boston.

Now he could walk away with nothing.

Miami's fans are terrible and he's nothing more than a mercenary to them.

I doubt there was a point in the process when Ray was planning on coming back. How much effort should you put on someone who *might* consider coming back if you triple the other offer he's getting?

  • It's not hard to work hard.
From what I recall, "losing" Ray was one of the factors that got us in the playoffs, this year, in the first place...At one point we were 10-1 without him.

I don't see the relation between losing Ray and our playoffs chances being hurt like some people are claiming here. I think so far we are improved from last season.

If you're not seeing it, take Ray's name out of it. Let's say the Celtics could add one more guy to the roster tomorrow. Guy #1 is going to shoot 46% from the field, 46% from 3, 91% from the line, score 15ppg in limited minutes, can take and make a big shot consistently, and be an absolute pro on and off the court. Guy #2 is Mickael Pietrus. Which would you rather have going into a playoff series?

I don't think I'm saying anything controversial here. It hurts your team to lose good players, particularly if they go to the team that has already ended your season the last 2 years in a row.

I'm not saying he's worth 27m/3yrs, and I don't think he should have started over AB (though Bradley has had one good year, he's not a sure thing). And it's not a Terry vs Allen thing. It would have helped to have both. This makes things harder.

Don't really think any of the FA sg's are worth all that much. This will be a challenge.
McHale's favorite ruse is putting paper in the mouths of sleeping teammates. "Try using one of these cocktail napkins," he said. "When just the edge sticks out of a guy's mouth, it looks like he's got fangs. The best part is when he wakes up."

NotBillWalton rant

Quote
At this moment, I am still appalled Ray Allen chose Miami. I can't recall a bald guy betraying his friends like this since Cypher chose fake steak over Neo in The Matrix! Not since watching  Scar murdered his own brother in The Lion King 3D have my senses felt this assaulted. I am confused, stuck on the precipe of reality and fiction, unable to discern the truth from lies. This is worse than when Nas joined Jay Z at Def Jam after Jay-Z talked badly about his baby's mother. Even if you win, Ray, you lose your soul.  So what was Ray Allen thinking?

We all know Ray Allen's nose looks as if he always smelled a stinky fart, but I thought he had much more sense than this. To live and die as a Celtic should be every man's dream. Who decides to bolt for the land of ravenous bath salt zombies and caked up make up coke head video vixens infected with every STD known to man? The city of Boston is a basketball Mecca, a place where dreams are not only made, they are forged in back alley card rooms and mystical bars filled to the brim with every beer you could imagine. WHY LEAVE THE TRUTH?

All that glitters is not gold, Ray Allen. It just might be the rhinestones that Chris Bosh placed on LeBron's headband to take away from his horrific hairline. Prepare to be booed for life.

You think Ray could play better D than Terry?

Significantly better.

not from what i saw in the playoffs

I take it you missed the part where Ray hurt his ankle?

he still was not a lockdown defender even when healthy. are you saying that? his defense will not be missed. he could not create his own shot either like terry.
LET'S GO CELTICS!
