Man, it stings more than you guys even understand. It really and truly does, but I can't boo Ray. I will never boo ray. I hoped he would stay for KG, Pierce and Doc, and while I hoped that Ray would look past how Danny Ainge has treated him the past couple seasons, especially last season, when he attempted to trade him to Memphis for O.J. Mayo, can you really Blame Ray for feeling that he just wasn't appreciated enough by the head office in Boston?

I'll always want to see Allen succeed, but this doesn't mean I'll suddenly stop rooting for the Celtics to succeeds as well. When the Heat and the Celts play eachother, I'll just watch as a neutral fan, but I'll want Ray to win as much as possible, to prove his worth and value as much as possible for people who didn't fully appreciate what he brought to the Celtics, and all the things he did for the team. Ray was a professional and was loyal for years to the Celtics. The head office wasn't loyal to him. It's only when there's a threat that Ray Allen ends up on the Heat, and is wanted so badly by other contenders, that Ainge decided it was time to give Ray the respect he deserves.

Ainge was fighting for Allen as a free agent, but he wasn't fighting for him when he had him. I'm p---ed, but I'm not mad at Ray.

D:

This sucks.

Anyone saying that this team is better off without Ray, or that Jason Terry will be an upgrade, or that this doesn't make the Heat considerably stronger next year is kidding themselves.

This really, really sucks.

I don't know whose fault it was, but boning that trade for OJ Mayo is a real kick in the pants right now.

whoa! whoa! slow down there ole chap. You think Ray could create his own shot like terry? You think Ray could play better D than Terry? wow.........yes ray will make the cheat better, no doubt.....we will have to improvise, adapt and overcome.

Jason Terry is a fine player. But in no universe is he an upgrade over a 1st ballot Hall of Famer, even one that's 4 years older than him. And his defense is certainly not any better than Ray.

The goal is to get banners. This significantly hurts our chances and significantly helps the team that was already prohibitive favorites.

aaaa.....actually at this point in their careers he is

THANK YOU!!!!! EXACTLY THE POINT SIR!

Danny screwed up this offseason and look what happens...we cannot beat the Heat, Lakers, Spurs, Bulls, or Thunder so what the hell was the point Danny? Selling tickets?

I appreciate what Ray did for us the past 5 years but he's the enemy now.  I wish him well in his personal life and hope his professional life crashes down on him (no injury, just rapid aging and no lift on his jumper).  I also hope the Heat publically shop him aroung the league at the deadline.

just stop

boston was 8 minutes with no bench and a beat up team from beating the heat. they are MUCH better this year with AB back, green, wilcox, sully, melo, healthy PP

Bulls won't have rose for a long time
lakers have no coach and hero baller bryant

boston is right there

  • It's not hard to work hard.

You can have that opinion if you like. There are no statistics to back that up, of course, but you're free to have that opinion.

I'm not saying that the sky is falling. The Heat were going to be heavy favorites with or without Ray Allen. The Celtics were going to be fringe contenders with or without Ray Allen.

But I think there's a lot of delusional thinking going on here when people say that Allen wasn't that good anyway. He was the Celtics most consistent player for a good part of this season, and was outstanding last season.
McHale's favorite ruse is putting paper in the mouths of sleeping teammates. "Try using one of these cocktail napkins," he said. "When just the edge sticks out of a guy's mouth, it looks like he's got fangs. The best part is when he wakes up."

He was willing to take 9 million over 3 years with the Heat and 27 million from the Celtics? Something isn't right here

Benedict Allen demanded that outrageous amount knowing that Danny would never give it, so Ray can lie to himself and the world and say "see, they really didn't want me."

A little disingenuous and sleazy of you, huh, Ray?

Not only is Jason Terry better, he brings something else we need more than just shooting: playmaking.

So I'm happy there and also he loves coming off the bench and won't complain about it.  Not saying he's a lot better than Ray but better IMO.

(Oh yeah Ray's fine with it in MIA though... yuck)
