AP: Ray Allen is staying in Miami overnight, as talks with Heat continue.

i dont even want this old fart in boston, he cant even make free throws anymore
Pretty sure that had something to do with the bone spurs in his ankles. Free throw shooting isn't something that just leaves a player when he ages...

We shall see. He was supposed to meet with the Clippers tomorrow and it seems they canceled the meeting last minute. Perhaps he was going to spend the night regardless in Miami, and would've taken an early flight to LA.

regardless he is the best sg left in FA though. I'll take Nick Young if this falls through but [dang] if he takes the mini MLE to play in Miami thats just a slap in the face...
i wanted ray allen but hes staying in miami overnight. what do you think is about to happen...
Im not putting too much into it, if they met around the evening you would think he'd just stay the night and come back home the next morning

I agree but the "source" said he was staying there to continue talks....not just staying overnight.

Wow, you guys are overreacting. He's not a girlfriend staying overnight at the enemy's place, it doesn't mean he's sleeping with them and lost forever. He's a pro athlete who is looking for the best deal, and giving them a chance to make their case is just good business.

I don't want to hate Ray but I will if he decides to go to the Heat over us. It wouldn't be just a slap in the face, but a kick in the ole family jewels

Yeah...this one is over.

Actually, the way you're wording it sounds much worse, and would mean he stayed specifically to negotiate with Miami. He stated "Ray Allen is staying overnight", which perhaps he intended to do along. "Talks with Heat continue" which would mean they're still trying to convince him.

If you say so.

He is also being wined and dined in Miami...Its like Jesus Shuttlesworth being recruited all over again.  I don't blame him for milking it a bit.

  • Thank you Eddie!
I hate to say it, but I think people are in denial at this point.  I can't possibly spin anything that just happened as stuff that doesn't matter.

And his other date canceled on him, why not stay in Miami an extra day instead of heading home?
