I always hear it and figure it's probably just a rumor but Woj is pretty credible says he hears it from people in the locker room and organization. He doesn't think it would drive Ray away though and thinks we can land him back. I thought it was interesting sounds like there is some friction in the locker room to iron out, Rondo needs to get his butt on the phone and tell Ray lets go get Banner 18.

this was before the Terry signing starts in at around 11:50

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I also wasn't giving the rumor much credibility until now.

IMHO, Wojo is as legit as it gets.

I still can't see this being a deciding factor in Ray's decision unless it's really bad.

Yep, Jackie M. was among those with credibility who reported this months ago.  However, after Woj's stale reporting yesterday that Ray and Rondo never carried their off-court tensions onto the court, here comes the Boston Herald with new reports that indeed Ray was bothered by it on-court too.  Didn't we just know he didn't like how few shots he got last year?  Although not attributed to Ray's agent, it comes in a story in which the agent is a quoted source.

Certainly sounds like Ray is gone.  That could leave more money for Danny to give to Bass, but I'm thinking he'll use the extra to bring Krstic back instead.  Then Wilcox or Stiemer could get the BAE.  I'd think this would increase the chances of Moore being able to stick with a competent showing in summer league.

We lose ray....peaches is a must...we will need depth at the 2 until Bradley returns. I think Danny goes and gets another 2 no matter what. Bass is coming back or will be used in a sign same trade. I would rather have nads over steamer. You can get wilcox on the cheap. Moore will need a good summer to make the team

Agreed all around, though I could see a Bass S&T bringing a better wing than Pietrus.  Because of Bird rights they can pay Krstic what it would require, may not be able to do so for Stiemer anyway.

I get trying to bring in somebody better than Pietrus, but he brings what we need from a bench player - defense, size, and three pointers and will do it for a fairly cheap price. As a third string sg/sf, I really couldn't ask for much more. I get that Bradley may be out for a month or so, but I also hate to spend too much money on a guy who is going to sulk because he isn't getting enough playing time. Pietrus fits right into our team chemistry.

I was of the mindset that we need Ray back in order to truly have a loaded backcourt.

Now I am thinking: If fans are truly skeptical that signing and playing about 5 guys who are 34+, then maybe letting Allen walk is a blessing in disguise. We will assuredly be able to get Bass and Green if he leaves. Also we'll probably be able to put out a nice bid on Krstic.

I'm beginning to think that whether Ray stays or goes, it won't be a huge difference maker.

You are partially right I think. We've just signed Terry to a 3 year deal and we can trade him whenever we want, but keeping Ray too was close to knocking on heaven's door.

The thing that concerns me is Terry's ability to hit as many huge shots as Ray- I think he's capable and he's done it before. As Celtics fans we've seen Ray do it his whole career here..ie against the Bulls in 09', the Lakers in 08' and 10', and the monster three pointer to take us into overtime in game 2 vs Miami this year. He's just so dang reliable in the clutch. Bonus with Terry is that we will have a guy that can score on his own and help us with the 4-8 minute scoring droughts, particularly in the playoffs AND hit the clutch three pointer.

ps. slight brag..I was 5th row in game 2 @ Miami and when Ray hit that shot I erupted as the only Celtics fan in a sea of Miami Heat fans.(and my girlfriend hoping we wouldn't get punched). I'll never forget Ray hitting that shot and the look on everyone's faces haha.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
