If they can't get Dwight Howard, I'd be tempted to trade Andrew Bynum for Marc Gasol + pieces.

Bring in a center who can better facilitate their offense and go high-low with Pau Gasol. Give Nash more room to work with in the pick and roll with his jump-shooting.

I agree with this. Bynum doesn't fit Nash that well.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
So they use a trade exception and get to keep Sessions and Jordan Hill? Wow, they lakers are back in legit contention. If they land Howard the heat "dynasty" is over. I hate the lakers, but may be content in them winning if it shuts down lebron and co. for good.

Screw that. Lakers will always be enemy #1.

Exactly!

Some fans seem to have taken this LeBron thing overboard.

Personally, I've always had more respect for the Lakers as rivals than animosity.

If it were up to me, we would have a Celtics-Lakers final every year from now until the end of time, with the Celtics winning in 7 in Double Overtime every year.

LeBron earned some of my respect this year but Kobe already had it.

But still, CeltsFan84 - they lost that series 4 - 1. To me, Steve Nash wouldn't have helped them much.

The reason they lost to OKC is that Perk and Serge neutralized LA's Twin towers - their strength.

Plus, I just don't see where Nash counters the fact that LA still has no answer for Harden, Durant, and Westbrook.

If anything, LA just got weaker on their perimeter. Their offense may run better, and they will still defeat the weaker teams out there, but once they meet a real team in a series (OKC or Spurs), I just don't see how adding Steve Nash past his prime helps them out.

Bynum for Howard just makes so much sense right now. If it doesn't get done, call me flat out befuddled.

And I don't think there is a team out there that will be able to stop them as long as Kobe and Nash stay healthy.

Dwight Howard's pride is the only thing I see holding the Lakers back from 2-3 chips aside from Father time.
Bynum + what/whom?

Bynum for Howard straight up works.

They could even do Bynum + McRoberts + Eyenga for Howard + Richardson

I hate how LA always makes these deals. Nash for picks? What a joke.

There's respect but that doesn't mean I want them winning championships. Plus that matchup doesn't favor Boston at the moment.

Honestly if I were an Orlando Magic fan I would shoot myself in the face. Bynum for Howard straight up? Would stop watching the NBA. Despite everything DH is still a Top 3 player in the league and the Magic could get a much better deal than just Bynum. Heck, even if you add Artest I'd still not take it.

OK, so let's pretend you are the Orlando GM.  What better offer is sitting out there for Dwight Howard than Andrew Bynum?

Lopez + Humphries + Brooks + #1?  Hopefully that trumps.

I don't know. Isn't there a handful of teams out there willing to give almost everything to get him, even though only for most likely a year? Houston and the likes? I'm not following every rumor.

But Bynum for him straight up just seems too low.

I see where you are coming from, but I think you are severely undervaluing a past his prime Steve Nash.  Here is one example of his impact on an offense.  Here are the team leaders in FG% this season:

1. San Antonio, 2. Denver, 3. OKC, 4. Miami, 5. Boston, 6. Phoenix

Yes, his team finished 6th this year, despite an absolutely terrible supporting cast.  You may remember teams 1, 3, 4, and 5 from this year's conference finals.

The solution is that you win in different ways.  They may still have weak areas against teams like OKC.  But every team does.  Remember when they used to defend pick and rolls against Parker and Duncan with Fisher and Shaq?  And they were awful at it? And they never fixed it? And they won three championships anyway.  The HEAT didn't fix their inside play.  They were domianted this year by Roy Hibbert and then by KG.  They won in spite of it.

Because overwhelming talent wins out.  Nash and Dwight would give them overwhelming talent.  I'm not saying they'll win 82 games and sweep every round.  But they are certainly a formidable contender.  They've joined Miami, OKC, Chicago, San Antonio, and Boston in my view.

Well that would have to be a double sign and trade.  Which means Orlando would basically be the highest bidder for both Lopez and Humphries for both of them to decide to go to Orlando.

Lopez and Humphries are both free agents, so they both have to pick Orlando as their destination.  Meaning that Orlando must overpay both.

And I'm severely against Centers that are allergic to rebounding.

I don't think there is a single player out there who touches Bynum that a team would willingly trade for Howard without an extension.

The only difference maker I see is if a team was willing to take on Turkoglu.
