@Roy.... Scalabrine has championship pedigree & I'm not clamoring to get him back. We need youth & athleticism & size to pair with the old dogs, not just another old dog! I know Jet can ball no doubt but it's a weird fit here being Bradley already isn't a prototypical SG himself. If he is our backup PG im ok with that, but can he guard the Wade's & Kobe's & Harden's? Because we are gonna need that from him.

I suspect that is why they want Ray back as well, because no, Terry isn't going to be asked to cover those guys much, that will be for Bradley, who has shown he can cover Wade, and perhaps Allen.  As to the age question, that is another reason to get both Terry and Ray, since they are both advancing in age, they each have to do less and both should be fresher for the playoffs.

I am actually more concerned about Ray than Terry though in terms of limiting his minutes.  We all might think its best for a 37 yr old guard to play less, Doc and Danny may think so too, but I think Ray still wants to play 35 minutes a game.  Also, like starting pitching, figuring out how everyone can get minutes in an 82 game season, discounts the almost certainty that someone will do down for any # of games.  This kind of depth protects against any major dips if/when one of them is out.

Ray Allen is 37 and can run run cirlces around pierce who is what 34?

Ray Allen at 37 is different from any other 37 year old in the NBA

True enough, which is why I said I am concerned that Ray still believes he can play 35 and there may not be that available all year on the C's.  But keep in mind, he is coming off ankle surgery, and while he is expected to have a full recovery, who knows if he will be 100% at the start of the year, so easing him back into things may be what's best for him.  Besides, injuries the way they are, I am sure he will get increased minutes for some stretch of the season, but even for his incredible condition at 37, it still may be best to cut them back a bit.  But if Ray doesn't buy that, he's a goner for sure.

Wow, Terry is 34. Oh and only two months away from being 35.

A 35, 36, 37 year old undersized two guard. Next three years.

Last I checked Jason Terry couldn't help correct our rebounding woes.

No, but he can help our scoring.  Add Jason Terry in the fourth quarter of Game 7 against Miami, and we win.  Long scoring droughts should be a thing of the past.

If guys like Kris Humphries or Chris Kaman ultimately take the mid-level, I'll agree that this was a mistake.  Barring that, I think we need to upgrade where we can.
I'd prefer Terry to Kaman. Kaman isn't a very good rebounder or an efficient scorer. Plus he's a plodder and we desparately need quickness in the frontcourt as much as rebounding.

I don't think Humphries goes for 5 million per year.

I don't think there's any way that either goes for $5 million per season.

Assuming we get Ray back, I'd prefer Kaman to Terry, but 1) beauty is in the eye of the beholder; and 2) it's a moot point.

We just got the best rebounder in the draft in Jared Sullinger.

Is Jared Sullinger some sort of alias for Anthony Davis or Thomas Robinson?

that's what we think, then he'll resign Paul for another 3 years.

Big props to Wyc and Co. for okaying all these deals / offers.  If we bring back Green, Bass, Ray, and/or Krstic, we've pretty much locked ourselves into the luxury tax for the foreseeable future.

Would you rather pay Kaman in place of Bass or Ray ?

Yeah, definite overpay with the third year.

His FTAs dropped this year too.

But with KG/Pierce both signed to big money for 3/2 years respectively I'm not too upset about it. This last ECF run could prove to be costing us our best chance to rebuild due to KGs/Terry/etc. moves.

sully has some flaws but rebounding is NOT one. Trust me on this one. Kid busts his butt on the glass

Boston knows they are CLOSE to winning it all..and they know the bench and injuries cost them vs Miami.

Ray has a lot of trouble getting seperation from defenders when he comes off of screens. He's not that different.

I'm pumped, but 3 years is kinda dumb.

When you are the new team, competing with the former team, a team he won a title with, you kind of have to go the extra mile to get the player.  Mavs weren't restricted to MLE I don't believe so Celts only way to offer more money was to increase the years.  In a vacuum, sure, 3 yrs might be too much, but look at it more as guaranteed 15 million going to Terry vs. the length of the contract.

I get to see this team compete for another season. Don't care about much else.
