With Rondo taking 35+ minutes at the point, I can't see the value in having in having 3 undersized two guards in Ray, Terry and Avery.

Mike
Getting Terry gives us a lot of security of what to do with our wing situation. It essentially give us a comfortable safety net if Ray doesn't come, we still have Pietrus, Daniels, and Pavlo to round up the roster if needed be.

But if we can't get a quality wing, then Ray becomes pretty much a necessity, and the uncertainty of where he might end up could make things a bit hard.

Terry can also fill Dooling's role as the vet backup to Rondo. But yes, the downside is having all three of your top guards be so small.

But as to center now, I take it Danny's down to Wilcox, Stiemer if nobody else pays him too much, or a S&T for Ray or Bass.

Not to be a debbie downer, but if this goes the way of David West I don't think my heart could take it.

Hypothetically, think it could work, at least in the regular season.

Rondo (35) / Terry (13)
Bradley (25) / Terry (12) / Allen (11)
Pierce (30) / Allen (9) / "Pietrus" (9)

Rondo (35), Pierce (30), Bradley (25), Terry (25), Allen (20), Backup 3 (9).

You could cut into Pierce's minutes or the backup 3's minutes to get Allen more playing time.

or if someone throws him a bit more than what we offered him and he goes to the highest bidder, since nothing can be signed right now....

I still don't think we can rule out an Allen sign and trade, though. We can pay him more than anyone else.

The question is what we might get back from Miami or the Clippers.  With LA, the other thing that might make any sense would be a dual S&T from Chauncey Billups, if he wanted to come here and back up Rondo (basically replace Dooling).  Doubt that he would.

The only way I see them bringing Ray back is if they are trying to plan on some sort of trafe package featuring Avery Bradley and a sign and traded Brandon Bass for a legit big man.

But I love Terry as a player and he fits so perfectly for this team.

if green is signed than those 18 minutes at sf easily go to him

I hope this is true!

I bet this makes it easier for Ray to start as avery and jet can be a great combo duo,

also, Dallas is probably trying to free his cap hold as he earned 11 mil last year.  They may have encouraged him to sign elsewhere so they can go for Howard? ::)

finally some bench firepower!
I was thinking the same thing if we really want Ray and there's a chance he stays with us we have to offer him the starting job. Then you have Terry backup Rondo and Bradley back up Ray that would be pretty [dang] solid.
I don't think we have to offer it to him but it would make sense.  Rondo/Ray starting with Bradley/Terry off the bench.  that's a really solid backcourt rotation.

I'd be really upset. We don't need that to happen. What I'm really shocked about is that nobody is purusing Terry besides Dallas and Boston if the reports are to be believed.

As @SpearsNBAYahoo reports, Celtics finalizing deal with Jason Terry. Boston is still determined to keep Ray Allen too, sources say.

I have to say I don't think this is as much of an issue as people make it out to be.  There are guys like Paul George and Kobe that make it a problem, but the SG position has been getting a lot smaller.

And we will have flexibility to say move Pierce to SG and play Green at SF if we really need to.

Not have too but you know what I'm getting at if we really want Ray back that might be what gets it done as Ray has said more than once he wants to start.
