Rockets Make Scola Available

By HOOPSWORLD
Basketball News & NBA Rumors

The Houston Rockets are actively looking to trade veteran power forward Luis Scola, according to league sources briefed on Houston’s plans.

Although a specific trade partner for Houston has not yet emerged, sources told ESPN.com that the Rockets — stocked with big forwards after coming away with Royce White and Terrence Jones in the NBA draft earlier this week — are working to find a new home for Scola as they rebuild their roster.

Pass...I was thinking Id be interested in trading bass for scola but Bass is just as efficient and more athletic so Id rather keep him.

Gah, too many 4s. Way too many 4s on this team already. A few days ago I'd say get on that because he's a good offensive weapon, good rebounder, a little undersized, not very athletic. Hmmm sounds like the 21st pick in this years draft if ya ask me.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Scola is a great player
who had too much on his shoulders
Mike & Tommy always have good things to say
about Luis Scola.
He is more talented than Brandon Bass
He has guts and can play physical
(unlike Green).

I have a lot of respect for the amount of respect the Rockets had for the 2012 NBA draft.

They acquired multiple extra picks before draft day, and came out with 3 potential all-stars.

Terrence Jones and Royce White both have 3-4-5 versatility, are both good passers and ball-handlers, and both are good rebounders as well.

That will be a fun front-court to watch as a basketball fan.

As will the Sullinger-Melo frontcourt.

I actually left the draft a little bit confused. I get the Lamb pick, I guess. It just means they want Martin out, but that's been no secret. I see White and Jones as similar players - strictly power forwards at the next level, with limited versatility. Guys who are probably a little undersized for the position but do have the ability to bring the ball up the floor and are great passers for the 4 spot. I don't know, I just see a lot of repetition between the two of them and I'm not sure it was the right approach. I certainly don't think they have 3-4-5 versatility - maybe 3-4, but not 5.

I'm a big Scola fan - a lot like David West.

Don't forget, they also have Donatas Montiejunas coming over finally. The kid is a 7 footer with Dirk Nowitzki/Andrea Bargniani type potential.

Works for me too, but I don't think Toronto would want this deal.

Scola+Bargnani+Bass (50 points per game?) great offensive frontcourt.

At the end of the day, star players don't want to play in Toronto(like Bosh). Scola and Bass would be fit for Toronto IMO.

Yeah, but they also all play the same position, struggle at rebounding and would be lucky to not let in 50 themselves on defense. And that's a very, very valuable #1 pick.

Wow - didn't realize Houston picked Jones too.  White, Morris, Patterson, Jones and Scola all under contract.
