how about you don't risk it and let JS go through surgery. I'm happy at least is not the knees, because that issue can end your career.

But if he just has this slight back issue, just get the surgery and fix it up. If he misses trainning camp, pre season and 25 games into the year, so be it.
Back surgery isn't less risky than treatment, its often more risky than staight on rehab with worse potential outcomes.

Thats the big reason they stress treatment over immediate surgery, which frustrates people to know end who have back issues as they happen but its what the studies bare out for the entire patient pool.

I think if surgery will help, he should just get it. What is a lifetime of treatment going to do? Coaches will constantly have to monitor his minutes and how he looks on the court etc

I guess this is a huge reason he dropped as much as he did.

Surgery is not always the answer, but if there is a good chance it might stop the issue, i would take the risk

I've always felt that when a guy falls dramatically in a draft, you don't want to be the sucker that stops his fall. There's a reason 20 teams passed on him, despite his college performance.

Like when Paul Pierce fell?

Pierce didn't exactly free-fall.
..yeah nor did he and Rondo have red flags.

there were concerns about about pierce's knee back then, and rondo was perceived to be stubborn and had no outside shot. both didnt get drafted higher because of those.

well the perception was pretty acurate.

Not to mention Avery Bradley. The only reason we got Avery Bradley is because he injured his ankle in pre-draft workouts which scared teams away. The Celtics have made out like bandits thanks to other teams passing on players with question marks.

well i also think that if the spurs, thunders, or heat have our picks theyd all pick sullinger. less successful teams usually dont roll the dice on injured players. theyre more willing to go for the sure things or uninjured guys with potential.

If the Heat picked Sullinger, Pat Riley would have been called a genius on this board. Lots of fans just need something to complain about

All I know is that kid needs to lose at least 15 lbs to ease the stress on his back. I hear a lot of Glen Davis comparisons with Sullinger and those are not good comparisons. It means weight is gonna be an issue for this kid. Defense is already gonna be an issue with his lack of lateral quickness(even worse with Melo) compound it with weight problems. I understand the kid has offensive skills but one more comparison you could draw is Big Al.

Remember everyone talking about how good Al was in the post but he had no body? And he was in high school. At least he had an excuse. And now Big Al plays center because he's too slow to matchup with quick 4's. I see the same problems with Sullinger.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

RT @GwashNBAGlobe: Danny Ainge says Jared Sullinger has a "disk" issue in his back that may or may not require surgery #celtics

Great. Just bloody great.

same injury as dwight howard by the way, or as andy katz would say bulging d***s

Hahaha, so glad im not the only one that caught this last night.

Im not worried about the Sullinger injury. He either misses the season due to suregery recovery, or misses the season because Doc won't play him.

Jared Sullinger measured in at the combine at 268 pounds and 10.7 percent body fat. Glen Davis measured in at 298. 10.7 isn't great, but let's be clear - he's nowhere near 3 bills.
