Still new here, but I don't understand all the fascination with Josh Smith. He's going to command somewhere between 12-16 million dollars year, and I personally don't view him as an elite player. I would rather try to spend a chunk of money that large on a player who has the potential to be dominant at his position - like a Lamarcus Aldridge (Just an example at PF). Why not use that money on a few contracts for other very solid but not great role players?
Lamarcus Aldridge will not be a free agent for another 3 years (some time as Rondo), and we don't have the pieces to pry him from Portland.
I wasn't suggesting we go after Aldridge cause I doubt Portland would let him slip away. I was only saying I think he would command a salary similar to Josh Smith, but I would if I were building a team I would rather pay for L.A. than Smith
and @saltlover
I get that he's a game changer when he's on, but i haven't seen consistency from him (Maybe cause I don't watch Atlanta enough), while Rondo was much more consistent this past season. And I would love Smith on the team for 10-12 million but i think he'll ask for a lot more.
