Cousins doesn't have a clue how to play winning basketball either. Tyreke is actually ahead of him on the development curve which says just how incompetent Cousins currently is. Great long term prospect though (Cousins), just like Tyreke is.
Not to just spew stats, but Cousins averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds, and nearly 3 steals + blocks a game. He positions himself in the post very well, and is extremely patient offensively. He's far from incompetent (on the basketball court)
Cousins has no idea how to win in this league. He does not play winning basketball.
Cousins can, and will, learn how to do so in time but he does not know how to do so now.
Tyreke Evans has no idea how to play team basketball. Too individualistic. Both of them need to be taught how to play effective basketball. And both are capable of being perennial All-Stars. Terrific prospects, the pair of them.
I guess I don't agree with your assessment, and don't really understand how you came to this conclusion.
Inefficient offensive player who doesn't understand how to use his strengths effectively and frequently plays to his weaknesses and hurts his team.
For example, despite being one of most gifted and dangerous interior scorers in the league, Cousins spends way too much time away from the rim and takes about half his total shot attempts from outside the paint and shoots only 35% on them. Because of that, his TS% is at 50%. Add in his turnovers and Cousins is scoring at 0.855 points per possession vs a league average of about 0.95.
And while he shows some talent as a passer, it is frequently underutilized (because of his teammates and because of his own bad decision making on the court and because of bad coaching.
Lousy defensive player who gets beaten far too often in one-on-one situations and doesn't know how to play team defense. A liability who costs his team a lot of points on this end of the floor.
His rebounding is very very strong though.

When Cousins starts playing intelligent offense and learns how to play defense, he'll be a dominant player in the NBA.
Until then, he won't win games for his team. So yes, while Cousins does do a lot of good things on the basketball court ... he also does a lot of bad things and those negatives take just as much, if not more, off the table than his positives puts on the table.
The man does not play winning basketball. Too ineffective offensively and too much of a liability defensively. Sacramento will continue to be one of the worst teams in the league until Cousins learns how to play effective winning basketball.
