Danny had a chance to keep the earlier undefeated playoff starting 5 w/ Perkins but he rolled the dice.

Danny saw an opportunity to trade a player who he was not going to resign, get a good player and a 1st round draft pick in return, and still put together a team that could compete with Miami and Chicago in the playoffs.  He did that. The only chance he took was on Shaq (and to a lesser extent, J.O.)

The idea that Danny is simply going to keep our starting 5 and add pieces is not consistent with his record as a GM.

Based on what? He has never been in this situation.  The Celtics as a franchise haven't been in this situation in 20 years.

He probably will not lay it safe. There are real questions whether Bass will be back. The idea of keeping the big three with Ray may be more tempting; but again not a certainty. I would say KG is their first priority; but even there the idea would be to have a strong enough team that KG could come in mid-season or not at all and they would have a chance.

All Danny cares about is Banner 18, because he knows that is all we care about.  Other GMs are just trying to put a good product out on the court that can compete for a playoff spot (see: Wizards, Washington).  Some GMs are just incompetent (see: King, Billy).  If there isn't a chance to make trades or pick-ups that get us a shot at putting together a championship squad, Danny will not make that move.  I trust him implicitly.

Though the Celtics were the underdog they nearly pulled off the upset at least in the media eyes. A banged up, depleted, injured veteran Celtics team, lead the series 3-2. But OKC only won one game in the Finals. Not a good look on the Thunder's part.

A banged up, depleted, injured veteran Celtics team? The Heat were missing one of their best players for the majority of the series and the Celtics still couldn't win. It's great the C's took the Heat to 7, but I'm fairly certain that with a healthy Bosh we would've seen a similar series to last year.

I think it's a cop-out to suggest that one player can be the difference maker in a series, especially when the two best players in the league are the same team.

There's no way on the planet Wade is one of the two best players in the league.

This will be The Big 3's legacy. Despite only winning one ring EVERY player who faced them in the Playoffs will talk about how it was the toughest matchup of their careers.

if boston had jeff green, wilcox and bradley...they win that series in 4 or 5...no question

that is why i think this team can compete if they get some young legs off the bench to go with resigning peaches, jeff green and bass

It'd be a lot harder for the mystic traveler to talk about game 6 if they weren't handed game 2 on a silver platter...

There would have been no game 6.

agreed, Boston should have won in 5. Nobody can honestly say that about the sixers or the heat when they played us though.
LET'S GO CELTICS!
