Why Royce White and the C's are a fit

Yes white plays defense, mostly in the post. And no Rondo hasnt assaulted anyone that we know of. But I don't believe White has ever bumped a ref in a game either.

Has White shown himself to be any sort of positive on the defensive end like Rondo? Did Rondo assault anyone in college? Those off the court issues can often times reflect the character of the individual.

I agree with most of your post, but to call his brushes with the law 'nothing' is inviting trouble in my opinion.  Theft is far from nothing.

It may be true that he's owned up to his actions and has since turned it around (and from what I've read, that's exactly the case), but I can't be so quick to dismiss that big of a mistake.  It's still a cause for concern, and I'd imagine it was one of the major questions posed to him by NBA teams during interviews.

yeah I agree with this I wouldn't put too much stock into a past minor offense. He really changed his life around when he transfered to Iowa State. I also feel as though he not only has the tools and skills to be very successful in not only in the NBA in general but the Celtics as well

This was a major issue in our offense this season - when the jumpers stopped falling, we struggled because we didn't have anyone outside of Rondo (and to a lesser extent Paul) who could create shots or get into the paint.

I think Royce can develop a solid jumper, though. I know a lot of people are comparing him to Rondo with his skill set but Rondo's jumpshooting form was so broken when he came into the league and it's taken years for him to get it a decent level. With Royce, however, his jumper doesn't look nearly as flawed - it can be worked on and further developed.

And I do see him being able to play the three. 6'8", 261 lbs but unlike Glen Davis, Royce is powerfully built and there's a lot of muscle as opposed to fat. Couple that with good quickness. I like it... I like it a lot.

I'm trying so hard not to get my hopes up about drafting this kid, I don't wanna be disappointed if he goes before #21.

the negatives are that he is a poor jumpshooter, and also a poor free throw shooter. so im not sure you want him on the floor the same time as rondo...BUT anyone who knows his game, what is the potential that he can develop one?

This. Royce is just such a versatile offensive player. Even in the NBA right now, there are very few guys who can be either the pick setter or the ball handler in a pick and roll situation. I think he can defend the 4 position pretty well too with his bulk and length. If our second unit looks something like:

Moore
Pietrus (assuming he comes back)
Green
White
Stiemsma

White can play as the "point small forward" on offense while Green, who doesn't need the ball in his hands, plays as a stretch 4. On defense Green is athletic enough to guard most 3's. That second unit line-up has playmaking (White), floor spacing (Moore and Pietrus), athleticism (Green, White), shot-blocking(Stiemsma) and rebounding (White & Stiemsma). That's a very balanced bench right there.
