What I think happened to Skip was the exact same thing that happened to Lebron last year. Thought it would be easier, was unprepared, and wilted.
These are the things I wish he'd said to expose Cuban.
Really? Lebron doesn't care what the media says or thinks? So were you in a cave during that whole "Decision" thing or do you think he was just having fun or something? How about that part where he predicted 7 championships? How about that Nike commercial where he looks straight at the camera and says "What should I do?" Really? He really doesn't care what we say?
How do you know this isn't just PR...?
Everybody talked about the decision and his bold prediction made sure people would keep talking about him. and what people say in commercials should be taken with a grain of salt...
Ok. So you're plan was to have him pass the ball to Steve Kerr. So you wanted wide open shots for the best three point shooter in NBA history? That was your plan?
Yes, except that the heat don't have kerr or anyone comparable on their roster...
That's the whole point of doing it that way.
You tell me that it's a team game and all you've done is talk about Lebron. Do you know who his other teammates are? Please tell me how you planned to make D Wade into Steve Kerr.
He talks about Lebron because this is what the series gets reduced to and because skip refuses to give the mavs some of the credit for lebron's disappearing act...
Cuban obviously knows who lebron's teammates are.
And why would cuban want to make wade into steve kerr? like lebron, wade is the type of guy you want pulling up for the three rather than driving...
You made him a jump shooter? And just nobody else managed to do this and neither did you till the 4th quarter. Ok. How do you think that would have worked with Jordan? Do you think you could have turned Jordan into a jump shooter? Would Jordan have stayed on the perimeter?
Yes they did. they gave him different looks which makes it harder to quickly react and make the right decision. other teams have succeeded in making him a jump shooter as well (see a team called the boston celtics...) jordan would have simply gone into the mid-range game where he is so much better than lebron that he is on another measuring scale
Ok. You can't say who wanted it more. So you can't say Dirk wanted it more than Lebron. Is that what you are saying?
Hard to say... I don't see how you can ever be sure about this
Do I really have to explain to you what "excruciating pressure" is? Just another game or something?
They can only put the pressure on themselves (which if lebron cares about the media he actually did)
however i don't see how they're supposed to be in more pressure than say the celtics were in ecf... they were on their possibly last run, miami's gonna get couple more chances.
So what does it mean if only the heat can claim to be under that type of pressure?
Miami was just better prepared to play than OKC? For 4 games in a row they prepared better?
Why not? Did you see them do adjustments on the issues cuban mentioned?
Ok. So you have access to OKCs playbook now? OKC just isn't smart enough to do what you did? They saw what worked and just decided not to use it? So you don't want to give credit to Lebron? It's all just a matter of defense? Which especially works in the 4th quarter.
cuban doesn't have access to okc's playbook, but he described what he saw and why it didn't work...
okc doesn't have the same players as the mavs, hence they can't just copy what worked for someone else.
obviously lebron played terrific. but obviously the mavs did something right too. and yes quite frankly, knowing that lebron is a below average perimeter shooter and has some struggles finishing games strong (maybe for lack of confidence or fear of failure) it may just be more effective in the 4th. you give him different looks and make sure he can't just intuitively make the right play and get comfortable and he might struggle at the end of a close game mulling over every decision even more as the impact of the play seems magnified now...
Skip could've at least come up with decent answers on some simple questions cuban asked him...
but maybe the excruciating pressure caused him to wilt (which of course had nothing to do with cuban though...)
