Speculation on Royce White promise? Celtics, Hawks have shown lots of interest. Warriors like White a lot too but 7 too high and 30 too low

oh yes!!!! I hope this is true, this is the guy I want the most who is realistic .

I heard the nuggets like him a pick before us too though so we may have to trade up to get him...

I hate the thought of Danny making a promise in this draft.  What's the upside?  That he doesn't work out for the handful of teams picking after us?  And the downside is that we would miss out on any highly-ranked players who fell to us?

If Quincy Miller and Jared Sullinger are there at 21, and we pass on one of them for White, it's going to be a big mistake in my mind.

Agreed, never understood the benefit of a draft promise

the kid is going to be an all-star. Go check out the stats in 2 games vs kentucky he outplayed Davis and Jones . He can run the 2nd units offense! we would finally have a legit backup pg.  Plus he is a bull in the low post and good rebounder .

I understand being high on a player, I'm equally high on Moultrie but a back up PG? I know he has nice handles but asking him to come in and facilitate a contendings team 2nd unit is a little steep...and an all-star? Slowww down buddy

The thing is, we have back to back picks. If a guy drops we can still grab White and the player who drops. What is the chance that two great players will drop to us? I does prevent us from trading the picks though I guess.

I'm fine with this as long as we nab Ezelli. I want a center who can run with Rondo for the next 5-6 years.

He averaged 13/9/5 assists in 30 mins his first year in college and outplayed other lottery picks when he faced them

  • GOT IT!!!
I wouldn't mind Royce in green at all. Good passer, good rebounder, and would fit in the culture well.

All a promise means is if he is there at #21 the Celtics would pick him if the board is right. If Sullinger or another top player falls that doesn't mean Danny would take them over Royce White.

Ford also said the Hawks love White as well, Danny could be playing a game where he tries to get a team to leapfrog the Celtics to pick White, in essence pushing another player down to us.

Anyone doubting Chad Ford shouldn't. He has been right on with his promises. He had us and OKC all over Reggie Jackson last year a month out from the draft and he was on the money. He has nailed alot of other promises the past few years as well.

oh yea another thing, I think he could guard Lebron . He is athletic enough and just as strong if not stronger than Lebron . We saw Bass have some success at times in the playoffs, I think White could be a better version of Bass guarding Lebron.

then with the other pick take Jeff Taylor who we could also have defend wade and Lebron

I still have very little faith in the idea that White will make it to 21.

I'm guessing Chad Ford is speculating here. Royce White isn't type player Danny Ainge usually picks in the 1st.
