It was a blast being a part of this last year and I would be happy to play along again. One thought: for the most part this is a beer savvy crowd and I love that aspect (I tried as many of your beer selections as I could find) but would anyone be interested in adding a couple of "featured spirits" selections? Not a mixed drink or a style of spirits but a specific bottle of a spirit you would like to feature.
I like the idea, but couldn't that work under specialty drinks?
It could but when I think of "specialty drink" I think of a mixed drink (Irish Car Bomb, Martini, etc.) not a specific branded bottle (Macallan 18 yr, Woodford Reseve Bourbon etc.). Either way would work but if there are other people who are into spirits it may be a way to pick up some ideas on new bourbons/scotches/tequilas etc to try out kind of like how last year we may have been turned onto a new beer we did not know about. Personally I have gotten more into spirits the past year but if there's not enough interest it doesn't make sense to have a seperate category.
I'll open this up to the floor. I tend to lean to keeping it as apart of the specialty drink category, and the perception of what a specialty drink is would be interpreted by the bar owner. But if enough people think it should be its own category I'd do it.
Right now I think we should keep it the specialty drink category just because we are already at 18 rounds. But I think you should be able to select a fine bottle of bourbon if you want.
'high-end bourbon', 'high-end irish whiskey', 'high-end scotch' should all be options, same with tequila, vodka, rum, brandy, etc...
Of course. I just used Bourbon since thats one of the things Chicagoceltic brought up. Specific bottles of booze can fit in the speciality drink category.
