I'll play, but I still like the "you get the brewery, and all the beers that come with it" rule better. You can still single out the best taps in a brewing line while expanding your bar selection that way. That way, if I want to take more than one Unibroue or Three Floyd's beer, I don't have to spend multiple picks, AND I still get to impress everyone with my beer snobbery.

Maybe a feature like "Pick: Miller Brewing Featured Beer(s): High Life, Miller Lite" that would combine the best of both worlds.

I'll PM Rondo and will make a final decision shortly. If anyone else has something to add about this feel free to bring up your points now.

Well, if you guys want to bring more good beer selections into it, having more taps available through picking a brewery and calling out your favorites as "featured beers" would be a good way to do that.

I just really want to talk about beer. My summers lag pretty hard in the workplace. You guys like beer? Beer?

LOVE IT, BRO

I do like the idea, and have been on the fence on it. I actually kind of agree about it freeing up more beers, and mentioned that in my PM.

My biggest concern is it diving a little too far into the gray, and opening things too far into debate

It was a blast being a part of this last year and I would be happy to play along again.  One thought: for the most part this is a beer savvy crowd and I love that aspect (I tried as many of your beer selections as I could find) but would anyone be interested in adding a couple of "featured spirits" selections? Not a mixed drink or a style of spirits but a specific bottle of a spirit you would like to feature.

I like the idea, but couldn't that work under specialty drinks?

Had a lot of fun with this last year, but I don't believe I'll be around for this year's, if we're talking about the latter half of August.

Mid-July this year, according to SO's schedule so far.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I get what you are getting after Champ, but my preference on this really is just to keep the 6 beers however a person see's fit model.  I think it will be easier to keep track of and as SO said, less grey area.

Ah, you're right. Looks like I'll be missing the CBlog Draft this year instead.

It could but when I think of "specialty drink" I think of a mixed drink (Irish Car Bomb, Martini, etc.) not a specific branded bottle (Macallan 18 yr, Woodford Reseve Bourbon etc.).  Either way would work but if there are other people who are into spirits it may be a way to pick up some ideas on new bourbons/scotches/tequilas etc to try out kind of like how last year we may have been turned onto a new beer we did not know about.  Personally I have gotten more into spirits the past year but if there's not enough interest it doesn't make sense to have a seperate category.

I'll open this up to the floor. I tend to lean to keeping it as apart of the specialty drink category, and the perception of what a specialty drink is would be interpreted by the bar owner. But if enough people think it should be its own category I'd do it.

Right now I think we should keep it the specialty drink category just because we are already at 18 rounds.  But I think you should be able to select a fine bottle of bourbon if you want.

'high-end bourbon', 'high-end irish whiskey', 'high-end scotch' should all be options, same with tequila, vodka, rum, brandy, etc...

Of course.  I just used Bourbon since thats one of the things Chicagoceltic brought up.  Specific bottles of booze can fit in the speciality drink category.

How about we include a wildcard pick that can be used on anything potable?
