Props (and TPs) to wdleehi for bringing up Ray Allen to the Bulls and goCeltics for bringing it back into my head. Because that's an amazing idea.

Seriously. Ray to the Bulls. I love it. I should have started this topic a while ago.

1. They want him
2. Ray wants money
3. Ray wants to have a role suited to him
4. We can get a lot from the Bulls
5. We can make the Bulls a little weaker while we're at it
6. Ray won't leave without us getting anything in return

The simplest scenario is a straight up trade.

Like:
an allen for asik deal could happen but salary matching for chi town may be hard becuase asik would be a base year compensation player, in that 50% of his salary would count for salary matching purposes

Depending on how much they're willing to give up to fill in the gaps, we could have some of the depth the Bulls have.

We can even leverage Bass into something (Boozer has been terrible but he's still a good player. And Rondo would work him. Better yet, Brewer but I'm not sure if they'd want to.)

If we throw in a third team it could get interesting:

The following would work

Ray to the Bulls (around 10 million a year)

Boozer to Kings

Evans and Hayes to the Celtics

I personally would love to see Tyreke Evans on the team but the rest of the site seems to be lukewarm.

I think the Grizzlies could also work themselves into this. They could be part of the Tyreke deal (Gay for Deng) or:

Ray and Gay to the Bulls
Taj Gibson (and maybe Brewer or some other nice things  :D) to the Celtics
Luol Deng (and filler) to the Grizzlies

Bulls fans keep talking about a second scoring option behind Rose. Gay is a scorer above all else.

Lastly, we have picks that we kind of want but kind of don't at the same time. Wonderful fantastic things could happen.

Bring on the ideas!

The logical trade is probably something like Ray Allen and a first-round pick (maybe with JJJ) for Omer Asik and Rip Hamilton.  I think you have to include Hamilton being traded in any proposed deal.

I would love to get Deng from the Bulls. Oh my my. Ray, jeff Green, JJJ, a first this year for Deng, Asik, Brewer, future first

Rondo/Dooling
Bradley/Brewer/Deng
Pierce/Deng
KG/Bass/Deng
Asik/Wilcox/Steamah

A small ball lineup of rondo, bradley, deng, pierce, kg would be a great defensive squad that could get out and run a bit. (well rondo, bradley, deng anyway.)

Funny, the Bulls threads are really down on Deng.   I would take Deng and Asik in a heartbeat over Steamer and Bass.

If KG comes back.... and I'm thinking its gonna happen....DA is gonna "have" to pull the trigger on a trade / whatever to buy the Celtics a couple "REAL" 5 guys.  I fully expect DA to get at least ONE FA Center if not 2 .   I hope he spends the capspace and gets her done.

The thing is...Ray would make them that much better. It's unfortunate that injuries hindered our team but wow our big three is really good.

In my humble opinion, I think it is a possibility. Especially if we slip them a pick.

And SHAQATTACK slipped one in before I posted, they're not really hot for Deng.

No megablockbuster-blow-me-away trades? There's a lot of space for that.

Ray might make them better but taking on a guy that just had heart surgery for their starting SF is a terrible Idea.  For all we know Ray and Green may both be out of the league after next year.

I don't understand why the Bulls would want Ray Allen.

The Bulls are already looking to 2013-2014 - Rose is not going to be anywhere close to full strength, and may not play at all, next season.

Why acquire someone with Ray's age/injury concerns?

The thing is, when you look at trades you have to take into account not just how "hot" they are about their players, but also what other teams around the league would be willing to offer for that player. Chicago would be able to get a much better package than the one you proposed IMO.

I agree.  What exactly is the time table on Rose?  Is he even guaranteed to be back next year at all?

If his status is up in the air, do they really want to make any sort of financial commitment to Ray when they already have Hamilton under contract?

Furthermore, why does Ray want to go to a team that may not be all that great without Rose?  And would Ray actually even beat out Richard Hamilton at the 2?  Or would be end up on the bench like he potentially would be here?

All of these potential landing spots for Ray really only look good until you actually break down the realities behind them.

If I'm Ainge, I offer Ray 5-7 million for 1 year and tell him he can start over Bradley.  Give Ray the KG treatment and take him out at the midway part of the 1st.  Then bring in Bradley and Green and let Rondo run.

I'd have to imagine the earliest we could expect to see Rose back on the court would be sometime around March/April (10 months).  Basically, I expect Rose is going to miss the vast majority of next season.
