Say the Bulls are serious about shopping Deng. They're are reports they have talked to Sacramento about Deng for the fifth pick. They don't want to be in the luxury tax.

So they trade Green for the fifth pick and draft Drummond.

Then they do a S+T of Asik to Boston, who then does a S+T of Green to the Bulls.

Let's say both players get around five mill per year. Maybe a little more.

Chicago gets salary relief and younger, while not losing talent. Boston gets a young big.

Can we S+T Green? Not sure if we can. Yet, if we can would you do this deal?

Yes, I think I do that deal. If you can lock down a starting quality center (even though he'd probably be the 25-30th best starting C), with potential to improve for $5million per year, I think you have to take that chance.

Absolutely -- Asik has already played at a higher level than Jeff Green ever has and, unlike Jeff Green, Asik isn't coming off of heart surgery.

i don't see asik being more than a back up center in the league. a very good backup, but still a backup. i also don't see how his game blends with rondo's game. i do see how green can be a great 6th man all around player for us and he can run with rajon.

Funny a lot of people said this about Perkins at the beginning of 2008.

Maybe he could be like Gortat. Not in terms of style but impact and value.

I don't understand why every time acquiring a decent center is discussed, someone says they wouldn't blend well with Rondo or fit on a running team.

Well, the number one priority to being a running team is having your center grab rebounds on the defensive end and start the break by throwing the outlet pass. I mean, did everyone forget how the Bill Russell era celtics ran fast breaks? You can't run when the opponents get 2-3 offensive boards until they score. I thought people who watched the games this year would understand that too.

We don't need a center who will be out on the front end of fast breaks, we need one who will grab the boards and start the fast breaks. Asik fits, so does Hawes and a few other big men that we can get.

...or just sign Asik through free agency as well as Jeff Green?

yes perk was solid for us in 2008 but we also had the big three in their prime. 2013 is different story. don't get me wrong i would like us to get asik, but i don't want to overpay for a backup and i think we can get green in a great price for his abilities.

with KG  demanding the 4 postion  ,  at some point the C's are going to have to quit K-MART shopping for blue-light special bigs deals.

Go after an impact 5 player and a backup.   Just can't freakin trade Rondo  >:(... then we 'll be in the same boat as LA.

Where is it stated by a reliable source that KG is demanding to move back to the 4? I haven't seen that anywhere except for a few people on celticsblog who are speculating.

we obviously need a center that can rebound. but asik got no offense what so ever. he is 27, white and not very athletic. asik fits all right, but i won't trade green for him.

This year our weakest position was sf, we had little good and or healthy backup for pp.  I'd rather we resign Greg who I expect big things from next year.   If jjj can take bass' spot (as sub jump shooting pf) then I'd love the celtics to go after a vet big who can rebound and play hard d.
It is not the worst trade I've heard kind of makes sense for both teams, but I'd rather sign green Greg and add them to jjj, Bradley, two draft picks, rondo (all young guys) and vets kg, pp and ray at price
