i don't see asik being more than a back up center in the league. a very good backup, but still a backup. i also don't see how his game blends with rondo's game. i do see how green can be a great 6th man all around player for us and he can run with rajon.
Yes, this.  Green was frequently running the floor as a big man.  He is needed more than Asik who like you say is really a backup. It means C's still need to find a center but maybe that's KG.  if not, I still would not trade Green for Asik.

I don't get this new thing of trading Green.

I get he didn't do well in his two months learning a new system and players on the fly, coming off the bench and replacing a guy that every one would have died for.

Greens biggest problem is hes not Peirce and people are expecting some one the same to replace him. Not going to happen.

I could see this team turning more into the Pistons, full of guys that score around 15 a game and plays good D.

So instead of a S&T couldn't we just make an offer on Asik? 5 Mill would do it, I don't think the Bulls would go more than that. Not even sure the C's should. There are other centers like Gray,Lopez that they could go after.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I'd love Asik in Green as our starting center. I don't see why we need to move Jeff Green for him. Since we have the bird rights for Green I expect us to wait until the end of the offseason then sign him to a big one year contract.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

quit trying be cheap skates and get a decent pair of BIGS to help KG....make Chicago and Spurs payout the rearend to keep their bigs ....they can't keep all the big men on payroll forever .  keep Pietrus and Moore,  cheapy guards to go with Rondo and AB  ;D

I would love Asik but not for one of the few elite athletes we could potentially put next to Rondo.  Getting bigger isn't going to help this team if it means getting slower and less athletic.

If the second half of this season should have shown us anything it is that we NEED to get faster and more athletic to maximize Rondo's unique skill set.  Getting bigger but slower and less athletic would be a step back words IMHO.

He is an UFA, but you can still have Bird rights on UFAs.

In fact, by definition, you only have Bird rights on free agents. Non-free agents are under contract.

...or just sign Asik through free agency as well as Jeff Green?

Hahahaha!  Yeah, what he said!

Asik at $5 mil is worth it!  Especially, paired with KG (slot KG back at the 4, sounds like he'ld be happier).  Excellent team/help defender AND very athletic.  Very good rebounder who performs great outlet passes to start the break.  A banger, with toughness and great hands as well.

At $5 mil, you could still sign KG and Green.

Also, if not him than who?  There are no quality big men available for that price, or even that range.

I don't think you can sign and trade guys that were not on the roster at the end of the season, although we still have bird rights

an allen for asik deal could happen but salary matching for chi town may be hard becuase asik would be a base year compensation player, in that 50% of his salary would count for salary matching purposes
