Sacramento won't trade Tyreke for Pierce.

Pierce is too old and their team is too far from winning. Plus, Pierce is very unlikely to report to Sacramento (since it's such a bad team).

That and it wouldn't really work for Boston either - can't think of a pair more mismatched than Rondo and Evans.

I still think Golden St. is the most likely Pierce landing ground if we end up trading him.  There's the Lacob-Celtics connection + their burning desire for a star SF + their stated desire to trade picks for productivity + the bad contracts putting a lid on their big dreams (Iggy, Deng), all of which would indicate them settling on a guy like Pierce for a deal like Wright/Jefferson/#7.

I think Pierce would fit their new culture too.  The Mark Jackson hire (tough player) and the Ellis-for-Bogut trade (speed/offense for size/defense) signify a change in philosophy: I think they are trying to build a more physical, grind-it-out team.
2016 CelticsBlog Draft: Chicago Bulls

Head Coach: Fred Hoiberg

Starters: Rubio, Danny Green, Durant, Markieff Morris, Capela
Bench: Sessions, Shumpert, G. Green, T. Booker, Frye
Deep Bench: CJ Watson, H. Thompson, P. Zipser, Papagiannis, Mejri

Yeah, Golden State would be good. They have a legitimate chance to contend for a title if they brought someone like Paul Pierce on board.

I can see that working out for both player and team.

NO chance of Pierce being traded.

None. Team's not going to be blown up, either.

Why does everybody feel like Danny would never trade pierce? He almost did already and Danny will trade ANYBODY if he likes the deal

I honestly can't see us getting quality in return for him at this point.  I think the best we could get for him was New Jersey's lottery pick, which is why Danny explored that trade.

He makes too much money, we'd have to take back a killer contract, and I don't want any of those.

Yeah, even if you believe Danny wouldn't trade Pierce without his consent (which is closer to my thinking), if KG doesn't come back, and Ray is gone, then I think there is a very good chance Pierce could, very politely, ask to go to a contender, or perhaps back home to LA, rather than playing out the end of his career in a transition team.

Precisely. The logistics of a Pierce trade don't work, and KG is coming back so there simply is zero chance of a deal happening.

If Memphis offered Rudy, I'd have to think about it.

You have to keep in mind that trading Pierce would undercut our negotiating power with Bass, Green, Garnett, Allen, and Stiemsma. In my opinion, all of those players will be more expensive if the Celtics don't have Pierce because (1) they may take slightly less to stay together and (2) the Celtics wouldn't be able to use their limited cap space as a negotiation tactic.

I'm not saying that Pierce can't be traded, but I think it's important not to underestimate the hidden aspects of his value. In a vaccuum, I'd also consider Pierce for Gay. Considering all of the dominoes, though, I think it's a bad idea.

Probably, been saying it for three years.

Seen nothing to change my mind since then.
