Call me a pessimist, but I cannot see anything getting better after this year with Garnett. Would I like him back? Sure. But despite what's said about Rondo this team, as it's been proven again and again only goes as far as Garnett can carry them. We saw a resurgent KG in the playoffs, yes but we also saw too much fatigue and defensive lapses from him, too.
Next year everything will be back to normal and we'll play 82 games before the playoffs. This team can't go that long without breaking down physically and being exhausted by the end of the season.
You do know KG had no real backup or help down low and this was a compressed lockout season right? You know we were injured as hell with season ending ones right, and still were one win away from the finals? Last time I checked we also were not swept or steamrolled we're there until the final minutes
Lots of teams were changed drastically by injuries this year. It's no excuse and can't be used as a crutch. Miami didn't have Bosh for half the series. I'm by no means a fan of his but he means a lot to that Miami team.
And Kevin Garnett hasn't had any help or backup since 2008. Danny, I'm sure he tried, but he failed to deliver on getting him a backup for four years. Bad luck played a part in that but how exactly does one cure bad luck?
There is no realistic move significant enough to win a championship next year. I love KG, I love this team, but it's probably time to let go.
