bringing Perk back would be a nice pickup but it would have to be as KG's backup at center. I'd really like to see the C's get a big-time rebounding PF to pair with KG as a bigger priority
Agreed. I'd like the Celts to make a pitch for Paul Millsap. Maybe their 2 first rounders would get it done? He's making 7.2 million next year and if you think about it, that's probably what Bass will be demanding and Millsap is far the superior player IMO. Millsaps good for 15 and 10 every night. would solve our rebounding problem and give us an offensive spark.
Wow, very very interesting idea, but I don't think it's possible considering cap restrictions. There are 2 ways to get Milsap. One is we'd need to send $7M in salary to Utah which is only possible through sign and trade. The only candidates for this I see would be Bass or Jeff Green. Makes no sense for them to do it for Bass. Green could be possible. Utah is in a position right now where they look like they have just barely not enough money to sign him outright, so would need a S&T and I think a young Jeff Green could fit into their plans.
Second would be to renounce all rights to our FA's first. If we do that and acquire Milsap, then we've got only about $19M to dish out to fill our roster back up. That could possibly be just enough for Garnett, Ray, Pietrus/Daniels, and Steimsma but it'd be close depending on how much they all want.
Fit-wise, for the celts its a no-brainer. I think the celtics are instantly contenders again next season if we could have a roster of:
Rondo/Bradley
Bradley/Ray
Pierce/Pietrus
Milsap/Wilcox
KG/Steimsma
For Utah, they already have a crowded front-court of young players, so Milsap is expendible. They'd get two more draft picks towards a youth movement. It makes some sense, but could they get more for Milsap? I'm not sure, maybe.
