And do what with the additional cap space?
We already have cap space with no players to sign. Unless you can give a list of players to sign, what would be the point of the additional cap space?
I see no reason for us to pay money and not get anything for it. Save that money for the future.
I agree. The only situation that I could even listen to amnestying Pierce this offseason is if we renounced our rights to everybody, keeping only Rondo, Avery, and JJJ to make a complete rebuilding effort and splitting up that $40+ mil in cap space to somehow bring in Gordon, Batum, Hibbert and possibly one of (or two of if cant land 1 from above) OJ Mayo, Jeff Green, Ryan Anderson, Ilyasova, or Javale McGee.
And that plan would be a long shot that I'm not so sure would work out, considering some of those FA's are restricted. If we want to rebuild, I'd rather keep Pierce another year, maybe sign one of those above players this offseason, and go after Josh Smith or Dwight (if by the slim chance he's not extended with another team) the following offseason.
