Royce White is becoming my draft binkie. Besides the fact that he's built like a truck, his passing ability is impressive. If he's locked in, he's a terrific talent. I know he has some emotional/behavorial issues, but those things can be addressed with proper counseling and support from whatever organization he ends up with.

Do we know if he has worked out for The Celtics yet?

The flying thing honestly is blown out of proportions. He will get used to it and there are pills for these things.

lack of consistent shot , though is something to be worried about. In college he bulldozed quite a bit of his shots in, but in the nba, he won't have this luxury.

It will be a risk to draft him. Either he will score 8 pts, 5 rebounds, 3 assist and be a very nice bench player or could be another rondo 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists near triple double machine starter

I don't know what he'll do at the next level as scorer. His jumpshot is non-existent, at least early in his career he'll be a liability in that regard.

However, he has a nose for the ball as a rebounder. And at a powerful 270 lbs, he can bully and throw his weight around in the paint ala Glen Davis. His court vision and passing ability is an amazing talent for a guy his size.

no doubt, one of the best non guard passing players in the draft. The other is Draymond Green.

But if teams lay off of him soon enough and dare him to shoot, how effective will he be trying to pass the ball? Imagine everyone else being each double teamed with both Rondo and White playing hot potatoe praying that one is willing to take a shot?

We're not talking about Rondo circa 2008, his willingness to take the jumper is improved. I think the most significant thing will be getting guys at the 2 (OJ Mayo?) and 3 (we already have Paul) who can knock down jumpers.

I know this is a novel idea but how about not relying so much on jumpers and take it to the hole when plays break down.  One can still pass if the D breaks down and we might get a basket or a foul.  I think that once the big three are gone will be more of a transition team than a half court jumping shooting one.

I'm starting to think White is gunna end up being the steal of the draft. Why he is not projected to be a lottery pick is beyond me. It's really rare you find a big man with the ability to score, dish it out and rebound at a high level. 13, 9 and 5 his first year playing college basketball. If this guy played for Kansas or Kentucky he'd be a lottery pick for sure. He's had his problems in the past but he's a younhg guy and everything i read about him points to his attitude improving tremendously.

Imagine this guy in the Spurs' system, with multiple ball-handlers and emphasis on floor-spacing and ball movement. Pretty scary thought

I saw some footage of White - he's charismatic and he's a freight train in the open court. The way he moves "with the ball" reminds me of Barkely motoring up the court with a head of steam.

I wonder how he'd fit in an uptempo game with Rondo - could be deadly.

I'm actually not that concerned that he can't shoot a great jumper right now. If he's a beast in the post AND he's a great passer....put a great shooting SF and OG around him and a center who can hit 12-18 foot jump shots. Let this guy pick on guys in the post all night - let other guys bomb away from long distance.

He can't shoot, sometimes doesn't care on the court, defense is avg in college outside of rebounding and turns the ball over alot.

When competition got intense, he did step up his game.

We will just have to see what happens when he gets to the nba. Either will be an inconsistent poor shooting player, that will be a benchwarmer and after his rookie contract disappear from the nba, or play intense vs better competition daily plus eventually become a decent shooter. (then a steal)

Unfortunately i think the bad outweight the good. The non excel factor on defense, plus lack of shooting already spells a redflag for the type of players the celts draft in the first round. Taylor would be a better fit as a sf, though his ceiling is lower.

His game and physique resembles Andre Igoudala.  My only reservation would be how he would handle being a rookie for Doc and KG.

Not liking Melo or any of the Centers in our drafting range.  I think White is intriguing but there is a lot of ifs with him.  To me he's a bigger Bonzi Wells with no jumpshot, if he had a shot to keep defenders honest I say roll the dice but now not so much, I don't see the need for him and Jeff Green in the same rotation.

Melo is a bust waiting to happen.   Bad basketball IQ and conditioning issues.   He let him team down this year and also is a poor rebounder.
