Question to everyone's point guards.

Who guards Penny?

I think Chauncey would LOVE that challenge :).

Williams is 6'3 and strong.

giving up 4 inches for a very solid passer and a good dribble drive player. He'll have a hard time.

So no love for Josh Smith? No gushing over how it was insightful to pickup a defensive havoc-causer and athletic wunderkind to run with Nash in a small-ball lineup when Brand hits the 5 spot?

You guys really britta'd that.

My PF is going to pull him out to the three point line while my PG and C abuse your PG and C with pick and rolls.

I think its cute that you think a team that has Scottie Pippen, Josh Smith, Elton Brand in his prime, and Jermaine O'Neal in his prime can't recover from a pick and roll game. Nash isn't a good defender, but a lot of pretty poor defenders have been hidden by a great defensive team. Magic in the early 90's, Tony Parker, Derek Fisher...

And while my defensive assassins are causing havoc in your passing lanes, and blocking your pitiful layups, Steve Nash will use his offensive superpowers to light you up in transition.

Can they reach Howard's passing lane?  And since when does he "layup?"

Good luck getting to transition with the rebounding on my team.  Two guys that average over 13 rebounds a game.

A little too slow, and too short as well. He's gonna have a hard time.

Did you really bench your most talented player?

Yes I did, how cool is that. Well he won't be in the bench for long, it's just so there's perimeter defense, spacing on the floor in the first few minutes. Offense with Penny, Rice and Ewing at that span is a plenty. Then Grant comes in to add to the lead.

I really like the Tayshaun Prince pickup.

Very under-rated versatility on the offensive end of the floor. Ball-handling, passing, can initiate the offense, post play, run off screens, catch and shoot, transition play, mid-range, long two point range, three point range, can take 1-2 dribble pull-ups, finish at the basket. Under-valued versatility offensively in addition to his value as a defensive stopper.

A tad disappointed Tayshaun Prince didn't drop to my next pick.

Unfortunately that's true. But hey, I got Smits and Ewing underneath, as long as that dude takes jumpshots, i can live with that. Penny is long, a raise the hand challenge is good enough.

I think you are greatly overestimating Penny's effectiveness.  There are a number of smaller PG's that did quite well against Penny in the mid-90's.  And those teams weren't stacked.

And I'd take my chances with Derrick Rose on him and not give it much thought.  Penny had size and was a solid ball handler, but he was far from an elite ball handler, he didn't have great post up skills, etc.  His advantage was just seeing over the top and that is diminished a great deal in this sort of setting.  It also helped he could just throw over the top passes to Shaq.

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

I absolutely cannot believe he's fallen THIS far, but I'm going to pick IMO the steal of the draft.

This man was a DREAM TEAMER, along with Karl Malone, Bird and Co....Hall of Famer, several 2nd team Defense Awards...Several 1st Team All-NBA Awards..Consecutive NBA Finals trips with Karl Malone....One of the best PG's to ever play the game...hard-nosed, tough, intelligent...

Yup...that guy sitting down...with the ball :)

Rockets didn't have much of a problem with Penny when they swept them the Magic in 4, and it's not like they were immersed with defensive talent at the 1. It's a team game.
