If my fiancé knew just how few people really cared about these drafts, just how much time I devoted to it, she'd drop my phone in the bathtub out of sheer frustration.

I tell her it's a big deal to a lot of people and try not to be too specific.
This is what I get at any mention of fantasy hoops:  ::)

It's childish and immature, so I'm told, (which fits me perfectly, IMO).

Though nothing compared to my puns at her folks' dinner table ... ouch!

See I think of it as, There are still only so many possessions in a game and so many shots in a game.  An Elite Defensive player has more of an impact on this format because he can have an effect on every play whereas an elite scorer or shooter can't have that same effect because as you said there are many elite scorers and shooters.

I'm not so sure, and I think the Spurs-Thunder series is kind of a miniature look into this argument: A team filled with guys who can score the ball against a team with a few elite scorers and role players.

So what was each person's biggest plan thwarted by a fellow GM?

For me, it was Rondo2287, that devious scoundrel. Coming into Round 4, I had a plan. I had a very tenuous chance at grabbing a PG and a pick in exchange for Nash. My plan was to take a more 'traditional' center with my first pick (one of sabonis or Bynum), and with the pick acquired via trade (assuming it went down), I'd grab Brandon Roy.

Rondo killed that pipe dream. Not that I'm upset with the team I have now, I really like it, I think I rounded it out very well, and built a solid 5 around Pippen and Nash. But, there wads that dream.

For the most part, I was able to get the guys I wanted.

I must say, though, that I had my eye on Grant Hill and Paul Pierce - for a LONNNNNNG time.

The deepness of the draft allowed me to have secondary plans, though.

Love the look of Bahku's and Don's teams, I must say.

For Don, the David/Pau dynamic would be fun to watch. I think those two would work well together. They could play off of each other and supplement each other's weaknesses - even though ANY weaknesses with them are small.

For Bahku - love the defense and toughness from that team. You have scoring from the guards and Amar'e and you have the defensive roadblock up front with Dikembe and Oakley.

I was planning on choosing Oakley with my 2nd pick this round, or 1st pick tomorrow. Like Bahku, I remember his old days - the guy didn't let anyone push his teammates around, and he was a very good player, too.

Those NY teams caused opponents a lot of pain, and Oak was a part of that.

Moved to a new location on Friday without any cable. Spurs still look great!

Only sort of, no internet either. And since I stopped buying DVD's about 5 years ago everything I own I've seen about fifteen times. Though I'm still always surprised by how truly weird the "Adventures of Pete & Pete" is.

My brothers best friend is kind of an out doorsy guy and hates spending the money for internet and TV and went off the grid since him and his wife both have smartphones for work.  They watched the entire series of gilmore girls on DVD and then caved and got back on cable haha.
