Regarding the Magic:

Chris Webber is the most skilled forward center of the modern generation. Not the smartest, not the most coach-friendly, but skill-wise he sits at the top of a very tall mountain.

Like Who said, I'm not sure what to make it though. Does Webber play the 4 or 5? Matrix the 3 or 4?

Right now all I know for certain is that defensively and offensively they'll be matchup problems because of the unique skillsets. I need to see a finished product though.

Regarding the Lakers:
I moved up to get Yao. You took my Yao.

It kind of sucks that during his best year he failed to finish, so that detracts from him, but what doesn't detract from Yao is the fact that he's 7'6 inches tall, and can pass, shoot, rebound, and defend. He's also stronger than he looks.

Big Shot Chauncey is a capable captain to steer the ship. Not a pure point guard maybe, but who needs a pure point guard if you've got 18 points to go with those 8 assists and tough defense?

Kevin Garnett is a true 5-tool player. He can hit, he can bomb, he can run the bases, he can pitch, and he can field. Just the total package.

Plus he's crazytown banana pants insane. That's what sets him apart.

The Mavericks:

I think we've all kinda forgotten how good Derrick Rose is, he's almost gotten too much backlash from his ill-gotten MVP.

D-Rose is not going to be checked by any other point guard in this game. Not Gary Payton, not Jason Kidd, not anyone. He's too fast, too strong, too good. A P&R situation between him and the Mailman isn't maybe ideal, but its still pretty darn potent. Still deadly.

And Karl Malone is one of the best 4's to ever play basketball.

So you do like Miami did with James and play a bigger athletic defender on Rose. For example you definitely play Pippen on him,

Too early to really talk about this team. There is so much versatility there. Multi-position players who can operate in vastly different types of systems. Who can combine with one another in very different ways depending on lineup and style of play.

It could still turn it out to be so many different things.

Missing a franchise guy in my opinion though. I do like all these players but the only guy here close to a franchise guy is Webber and he really never went to the next level until he got ______.

Yeah, I agree, but I still think it could turn into something very interesting.

Disagree. KG was a more driven, more committed player, and more willing teammate than Webber ever was, but not as talented.

And these are two of the most talented bigs in the history of the NBA.

Teams might not be able to do that.

Dallas already has a terrific wing score in Pierce who can destroy smaller guards. If they add another one, that will force teams to keep their PGs on Rose and negate that option.

Miami is really good. Durant and Mourning were both super high on my list, you got them both. Very dangerous team, very good two-way team.

What about Pippen is holding Nash back? I get that Kemp might have been a better fit (you think I wouldn't have taken Kemp?), and there are some more athletic 4's out there than Brand, but I think you're short selling Brand as the guy you've been seeing since 2008, not the guy he was.

Nash will be able to make the most of Brand.

This is what I worry about with Nash.

If you pick him, you have to build a team / system built around Nash's strengths to get the best out of him otherwise he falls back to Dallas Mavericks Steve Nash.

I know Rose and Malone aren't the best fit (I think they will be ok, esp. with Pierce), but I took Rose for all of the reasons you said and am actually quite surprised at the backlash he has received.  Even if you don't think he earned the MVP he still was a 25/7.7/4.1 6'3" PG that gets to the line a lot (7 a game) and hits them (86%).  He also carried a team to the best record in basketball and the ECF (and let's be real this year shows just how valuable he is as the Bulls team probably has a better supporting cast and couldn't even get out of the first round without him).

Webber was a better passer, more versatile scorer, and better ball handler. His defense didn't touch KG's, but a lot of what makes KG great is his motor.

Webber falls behind as a teammate, as a defender, and as a rebounder, but in terms of basketball skill, I think he eeks out Garnett.

When you factor in defense I don't think it's even that close. KG is a first ballot Hall of Famer and in the discussion for best PF ever with Malone, Duncan, and Barkley. Webber isn;t even in the discussion and might not make the Hall.
