Can someone explain how having a bum ankle affects standstill free throw shooting?

Have you ever shot a free throw? The motion goes from your ankle, to your toes, to your legs then you use your wrist. Ray goes up on his toes like most.

Shooting free throws you don't exert much torque from lower extremity. The form and follow-through critical to making free throws.

If you have bone spurs in your ankle, you can hold it and just rotate it and feel pain. Free throws are all muscle memory. So bone spurs hitting a ligament can mess that up.

Yes, but even exerting minimal torque causes pain when someone has bone spurs

I am the worst shooter in history, so I can safely say that I know nothing about shooting mechanics, but I'll just add this to the conversation:  It's surprising to see Ray is missing FTs despite the ankle issues.

my thinking exactly. I think its more than a bum ankle.

Great to see RR and KG step up the scoring, but Ray and/or Paul need to produce offensively.
