2012 Playoffs is the last hoorah for this Celtics team I believe. If we win - Allen and Garnett will retire, and possibly even Pierce. We're banged up and still have not only Miami to get through, who I like are chances because we have beaten them impressively twice this year, but this is the playoffs all that doesn't matter now. We will still have to play either OKC, SA, or LAL who will all be tough matchups for us. Do we have what it takes? I hope so, I have my faith! But, if we bow out I think its a rebuilding process for us.

1.) Resign Brandon Bass: Bass pretty much rejuvenated our season once he was in the starting lineup. Doc really turned this kid into an all around player.
2.) Sign Jeff Green: Hopefully he will be back and healthy for us in 2012-2013. He is so versatile and I would love for him to have a full offseason to prepare and be a starter/sixth man on this team. Nice fresh, young legs is what this team needs and I think he owes us that.
3.) Sign Reggie Evans: I've been watching the Clippers in this playoff series with the Grizzlies, and let me say Reggie Evans is a monster on the boards. Against some very good bigs of Gasol and Randolph. He's averaging almost 9 rebounds a game. We need more rebounding on this team its killed us all year! He is 31, and I know I stated we have to get younger but this could be a good vet signing.
4.) Sign JaVale McGee? - I don't think this is a Danny Ainge type move, but the kid has potential. You saw it against Bynum, he is a raw player.

My team would look like:
C: JaVale McGee, Greg Stiemsma
PF: Brandon Bass, Reggie Evans, JaJuan Johnson
SF: Paul Pierce, Jeff Green
SG: Avery Bradley, Mickael Pietrus
PG: Rajon Rondo, E'Twaun Moore

Depending on what Paul Pierce does this offseason, whether he retires if he win the championship or stays another season will matter what we do in the draft I think.

Royce White of Iowa State could be the next Paul Pierce. He is a raw prospect and will make a difference on the boards and scoring.

John Henson and Austin Rivers would be the other two prospects I would like. And also, Fab Melo and Andre Drummond have a lot of upside if we don't sign McGee and they could be a true Centers for us.

I was definitely thinking about McGee earlier today. He has the ability to be a really good scorer, he can already defend with his length. Let someone coach him well and he could be a really good player, plus with Rondo around him who knows what could happen.
Take me where the Boston Celtics fans roam free without judgment from my enemies.

I think JaVale is on our radar. I don't know if you know this, but Flip Saunders has been going to a lot of Celtic's games since he was relieved in Washington. Saunders has a great relationship with Rivers as they talk after every game. Saunders also coached McGee so if we really are looking for a big man I think McGee is the most probable. He is restricted, so this will be tough.

This signing makes all the sense in the world to me. We get younger, and we get better. If we really are committed to winning Championships in the future this makes all the sense in the world. I wouldn't even mind Garnett staying an extra year to mentor the kid. Rondo and McGee the faces of this franchise in the future, and I'm not completely sold on Bradley yet, but you add his development in there with Jeff Green if he decides to return to Boston your looking at a real good team. Not to mention a Royce White as well, this team looks real promising!

Oh now everyone wants Javale. Before the trade deadline I think it was me and one other poster campaigning for him. Everyone said he wasn't worth the risk and was too much of a bonehead to be worth anything.

Anyway, I like that team but if KG doesn't retire, he needs to be kept here by almost any means necessary.

I know he was rumored, but I just joined this forum so I have no comment on that. I was just looking at the free agent list of Centers and who's available and who will fit where.

this team is going to have I believe about $20-25M in cap space without signings. Possibly more, that's just an estimate. Add in a restructure of Pierce's deal could help this team out as well.

If you can get Garnett on $3M one year, or if he retires we save that money.

Bass + Green will most likely combine for $12M cap hit in 2012/2013 if there signed, and I have no problem signing McGee to a 4YR/$40M deal. Averaging $10M a year for a player who isn't necessarily proven as a consistent player. Bynum signed a 4YR/$57M deal after their championship, so that deal should lure McGee from any other suitors.

4/40 is reasonable. I would do it.

Nuggets will match anything for Mcgee.

My dream scenario would be Josh Smith to refuse to sign an extension with anyone (while hinting  he would with C's), pushing his value down. S&T Bass, throw in 3J and a future first. Maybe make it a 3 teamer, getting more assets for ATL.

Sign Jeff Green

Sign KG & Ray (Really holding out hope Ray resigns)

Sign Pietrus

Draft Royce White, Fab Melo

Reserves/Inactive
Ryan Hollins
Chris Wilcox
Quis

2012-2013 Roster

Rondo/E'Twaun
Avery/Ray/Pietrus
Pierce/Green/Quis
Smith/Wilcox/White
KG/Steamboat/Melo/Hollins

___________________________________________________________

I think this could be a shape of next years roster. Put Bass back in place of Smith, take off Ray and add 3J back to the roster.

Pray KG comes back next year because that center position isnt getting any better unless DA pulls something out of his ***

We have about a zero percent chance of landing Drummond, for the record.

I find it really hard that we resign Allen and Garnett. I could see maybe one or the other, but deff not both. Both guys were rumored heavily at the trade deadline. Garnett is giving it all he has in these playoffs cause he knows this is the last hoorah, and Ray just looks like Shane Mosley out there. Way out of his prime, especially due to his lingering injury. Time to hang it up for the both of them.

If we win the title I see KG and Allen retiring. No need to stick around. While Paul Pierce will stick around, he wants to add more to his Celtics resume.

The Nuggets have $51M in cap payouts and could reach $56 I believe I read somewhere. So they will not be able to resign McGee to anything were offering!

Maybe we should sign Jerry West and Artis Gilmore, too.

mcgee is restricted.  Unlikely to sign him.

If KG and Ray retire and we replace them with Jeff Green and Chris Kaman (unrestricted)... we aren't going to be very good.

If Danny can get KG for $3M next year he's a better GM than I thought--and I think he's a pretty good GM.

I see long time mediocre playoff team/just missed the playoffs written all over that team.

Bass, the best low post threat on the team?  Not good.

since the trade the guy has average $21M a year. You honestly think he is going to sign and were going to sign at the age of 35 for anything above $5M? I don't think so.. If KG comes back it will be rather cheap I believe for a guy who will be here on a 1 year deal as a mentor and just another year to stick around.
