And people saying Hollins won't do a good job on Brand? Hollins can effectively remove Brand from this series entirely. I watch Brand, and I watch Hollins and what he does out on that court. The way Hollins plays defense and helps out on defense can definitely severely limit Brand in this next series.
I don't think Hollins is disciplined enough to deal with Brand in the Post.

Additionally Brand isn't the same offensive threat that Bass will struggle with, Hollins is a massive negative on the offensive end. If there isn't a pressing defensive need for him he shouldn't be on the floor more than necessary to rest KG/Bass.

If Hollins had been here at least half the season he would already be our starting C but you cannot change up what works in the playoffs (even though he works really well with KG), especially with no time to practice!

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Just because he got 3 offensive rebounds last night doesn't mean he's at all capable of handling a starter's duties. He literally cannot do anything on the offensive end, save catch uncontested alley-oops. On defense he can be effective 1 v 1 but his overall defense is too inconsistent for 30 mpg.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I was at the game in the balcony but thought I saw Bass look very upset at one point during the 4th when Doc subbed him out after a messed up defensive rotation. It looked like someone had to calm him down.

Anyone see this? Was it not a big deal? We just can't lose Bass mentally this playoffs because we are going to really need him. I hope this subpar series for him doesn't effect him moving forward

I'm a season ticket holder first row sitting directly behind Jamie Young (assistant coach), yes Bass was visibly upset after being taken out due to missing an assignment.  I turned to my father and said "we may have just lost him (mentally) for the next series".  I also assumed he wouldn't make it back on the court seeing that it was in the waning minutes. Pleasantly to my surprise Bass seem engaged on the following time out and Doc put him back in. To be honest this type of sequence has happened a few times this season. Regardless, I hope we are able to retain him for next year.

I just think ATL was a bad matchup for Bass.  Athletic bigs with strength - he didn't really possess any one advantage on the court.  Josh Smith is a great counter to Bass.  Who does Philly have like that???

Stiemer and Hollins off the bench, to back up KG.

Philly has to be Rondo's series.  He will be the best player on the court.

Why cant believe realize that the Hawks frontline was just a really bad matchup for Bass and the Celtics in general.

Bass was completely taken out of that series by having to defend Josh Smith and Horford at times.

He will revert to the Mr. Consistent Bass we all knew and loved in the 2nd round.

Brand is a better match for Bass.  Brand still has an advantage...But Brand, at this point in his career, plays below the rim like Bass.  So the advantage isn't as great.  Brand would overpower Hollins.  Since Hollins appears to be able to do nothing offensively, Brand could help Hawes on Garnett.

Bass is the better option.

Our struggles come when we go through our stretches of 5-6 straight possessions without being able to score, not defensively. Bass gives us a legitimate scoring big man who can stretch the defense out a bit more and give Rondo the ability to penetrate. Throwing Hollins down there in the low post only clogs the lane and makes it tougher for KG to get that low post shot off like he was hitting so well last night. I like Hollins in there when KG needs a rest just like I like Steimsma, however Bass is far superior. The man averaged 12.5 and 6 boards this season. Let's show him a little respect!

We'll see. Hollins defends the paint and Bass does not. If Bass continues to put up -22's I would like to see a better defender. I think we'll be fine without Bass' 3 made jumpers a game.

Best part is that Bass has to fight for his minutes now.

I don't want to start Hollins but I def think his length will bother Brand a lot in the post.

Anybody nervous about any of their guys? Im a little nervous about Igloudala on Pierce with Pierce's  bad knee.

By the way this should be KG's series. I really hope he puts up 20 shots a game like the Cavs series in 2010
