Is this too reactionary?

It would be nice to have a big fast defensive presence in the starting lineup. Strike while the iron is hot. Bass and Allen off the bench would be some pretty silly scoring punch.

Yes it is, Hollins hurts our offense as much as he's helped our defense.

Plus I don't trust his defense when KG isn't on the floor, keep starting Bass he has a much better matchup in Hawes/Brand this next game.

I was at the game in the balcony but thought I saw Bass look very upset at one point during the 4th when Doc subbed him out after a messed up defensive rotation. It looked like someone had to calm him down.

Anyone see this? Was it not a big deal? We just can't lose Bass mentally this playoffs because we are going to really need him. I hope this subpar series for him doesn't effect him moving forward

No.

I think it will go the other way.  Hollins will pick up some DNP-CD because the 76ers big men are not the athletic bigs that attack the rim from the mid range area.

Bass was a -22 the other night. He hits jumpers here and there but he has been killing us IMO.

I say get Hollins more minutes. He'll do a good job on Brand.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Bass was a bad matchup for Smith. But I believe he'll do well against Brand. So I'd start Bass until he plays out if it otherwise.

You can't just abandon your player like that. You need him and when the team is at its best Bass is playing well. Its something he's going to have to work through.

Why can't Hollins or Stiemsma just get their regular minutes off the bench and keep everyone in their defined roles?

you gotta be kiddin !
Hollins is a foul king. Hollins doesn't know the
sets yet. Steimsma is a better choice when we
need defense. I know Hollins has good chemistry
and ability and want him on this team next year,
but starting him over Bass is just ridiculous.

Hollins will most certainly not do a good job on Brand. He doesn't have the upper body strength.

hollins is a big boy i was sitting front row he was 10 yards away. looks like a true center, who happens to be athletic.

he played great and should continue to play hot hand between him and steam off thebench

I think Bass will do much better on Brand than he did Josh Smith or Horford.

He deserved to be yanked, and I am a big BB supporter. Josh Smith blew by him on that play and flushed it, even though Bass was playing off him and conceding the jumper, as if he wasn't even there.

Come to think of it, he hasn't seemed mentally there this first round, nowhere near the player he was during the year.

Hope this isn't a playoff trend. I don't really remember him disappearing in the many playoff games he played for the Magic. Let's hope it was just the bad matchups.

I believe Hollins helped us tremendously in key areas, but no, I don't yet see a reason to start him over Bass. However, if Bass isn't getting the job done for whatever, or if we just need what Hollins brings to the team when he's on the floor, then, yes, I could see putting him out there.

He really bothers players with his size and length, and his aggressiveness on the defensive end. He makes it tough for them to see things clearly on the court, and that helped us tremendously in the series against the Hawks. However, I say keep starting Bass. There is no reason not to start him, unless he makes mistakes.

And people saying Hollins won't do a good job on Brand? Hollins can effectively remove Brand from this series entirely. I watch Brand, and I watch Hollins and what he does out on that court. The way Hollins plays defense and helps out on defense can definitely severely limit Brand in this next series.
