He hustles. His effort is high. He gives the team some energy. He's not a option you want for very many minutes, but I thought all in all he helped us this series. Enough complaining about the stats. He's not in there for stats

This is the NBA. If hustle and effort were important we would see a lot more athletic white men. Too bad this is a game where the objective is to get more points than the other team and not let them score as much on you. Hollins doesn't do either of those well.

Congrats on his hustle. It is nice in the regular season when people are going through the motions and he can set an example. This is the playoffs, people don't need hustle to motivate them.

He played pretty good defense the last two games, and without his rebound tonight we're playing a game seven.

I'd say he's worthy of a shout out.

He got lit up by Al Horford. I don't know what game you were watching.

Horford made 6 shots in 46 minutes, 18 of those were presumably covered by Hollins. He could have done himself a bit better by not blowing a couple of dunks by learning to up fake, but it took Perk like 7 years to learn that, and everyone knows he was dubbed the New Bill Russell on this blog. Let the kid shine for a couple minutes. He played some big minutes in crunch time and didn't totally crap his pants. That's gotta say something about a guy who couldn't even crack Cleveland's line up this year.

Al Horford had 10 points in the 4th quarter. Hollins played 9 of the 12 minutes of the fourth.

Good stats. But Hollins was brutal. Almost lost us this game singlehandledly....but thank goodness he did his job and got us a rebound.

He was a major part of the reason that the Hawks went on a scoring drought during that huge stretch where we couldn't score the ball. Yes, Horford got loose, but it wasn't always the fault of Hollins. He had to be picking up against players that would have been open due to a switch, and he did a great job getting them to take very ugly looking shots.

There's a reason why there weren't many johnson and smith highlights until the very tail end of the 4th quarter. Yes, Horford went off for a bit, but pay attention to the stretch where we couldn't score a thing, but were still up by like 9 or close to 10. Hollins saved us from playing a game 7, bigtime.

Don't pay attention to the stat sheet. This guy, I can clearly see, potentially saved our season tonight.

So why was KG a +9, Bass a +2 and Hollins a -4?

I watched the game. Hollins was the furthest thing from "huge" or "beasting" on the court. The offense literally came to a stand still when he was in the game without KG. And his bad defense on Horford pretty much got the Hawks back in the game.

Now if Horford had been just hitting shots or putting good post moves on Hollins, you could somewhat overlook that. But he literally gave Horford like 3 wide open dunks/layups and left him for a wide open jumper.

He is an above average p&r defender too. Not KG level but still really good.

I agree that in context Hollins was great.

He did hustle, make a couple nice defensive plays and keep possessions alive with effort.

Overall though he STINKS.  He hardly rebounds, seems to have zero basketball sense, can't shoot free throws, has zero post moves and makes poor decisions.  His range is 2 feet at best and he even misses half of those.

But for a player picked up off the scrap heap it isn't fair to expect much.  It's not Hollin's fault that Doc has him playing 18 minutes in the Celtic's biggest game of the year...

I give him credit in that he tries hard and i will cheer him, that's about it.

Just because he played C doesn't mean he was directly responsible for all of Horfords points.

LOL true...I still think he can get better though. Outside of his stint with the Mavs, he's played for the Bobcats, Timberwolves and post Lebron Cavs. Not exactly the ideal situations to grow in.

Exactly! I honestly think people think you have to be matched up on someone by position! Hollins was beasting just for being Hollins and doing so well! Also, offense is only one end, AB has been kinda missing on offense but still stellar on defense, we aren't saying he was horrible!! You guys see Horford loose and say, "what is Hollins doing?!" not even seeing Bass looking a mess!! I'm not even comment anymore, we can agree to disagree people!
