I give Hollins due credit for coming in and playing if anything a bit above his level for some extended key playoff minutes, instead of below it. Being able to go four deep in frontcourt rotation is big.
I do wonder, however, how much Doc's take on player performances sometimes fit with reality. He referred last night to how Hollins has been 'rebounding his butt off', when Hollins's playoff rebounding rate has been 7.2/36 minutes.
In contrast, Stiemer rebounded at a 13.7/36 rate--190% of what Hollins has done. KG at 10.0/36 is the only other Celtic who's been boarding near Stiemer's pace.
Stiemer's rebounded not only at a higher rate than Josh Smith, but at a greater rate than any other NBA player who has averaged at least 10 minutes a game has rebounded so far in the playoffs.
I'm almost wondering whether KG's pushing hard for his friend Hollins to play and Doc is trying to oblige in an effort to woo KG back next year.
