Obviously Amare has a massive uninsurable contract, but it is just 3 years and he has been relatively healthy and is an excellent offensive player. That said it would be a cap killer, but if you also got Shumpert, Fields, and Lin, would you take on Amare. Say you just trade Allen and Bass in sign and trades (maybe throw in Moore as well). C's then bring back KG and Jeff Green
That would give the Celtics the following rotation/team
PG - Rondo, Lin
SG - Bradley, Shumpert, Fields
SF - Pierce, Fields, Green
PF - Stoudemire, Green, Johnson
C - Garnett, Stiemsma
plus whatever you get from the 2 firsts.
Is that a trade you would make? Amare seems to solve a lot of the interior scoring problems and he is still a fairly decent rebounder. Lin, Shumpert, and Fields add a lot of solid youth to the backcourt and wing positions. Obviously the cap space is killed, but the Celtics would be a significantly better team next year than the status quo. Would you do that assuming the Knicks would (and they might given Bass is a lesser but cheaper insurable version of Amare and Allen provides the long range spot up shooter that would be perfect next to Anthony).
