Just curious, here....

For those who remember the good that Metta has done (which is considerable)...how much punishment do YOU folks think he should receive?

I have no doubt that this issue has been brought up in discussing the incident with WP, and is probably why he hasn't been punished (yet).

For me? I still think he should get ten.

There is SO MUCH that goes on behind the scenes that we never see. I think that a considerable part of rivalries is when opponents "size up" one another...take shots at...be physical with one another.

This goes on in most sports, as we all know.

Oftentimes, the most damage you can do to a team is psychologically.

When a team takes out (whether intentionally or not) an opponents' player, there is a message sent.

When you "happen" to take out a key player? Even better.

Look at Blake Griffin - indeed, he has been receiving a good amount of hard fouls....the psychological message behind those fouls is "You'd better stop dunking and trying to posterize folks."

With Blake - "I can't outjump you or guard you - so I'll take you out and hurt you."

Not right.

I've lived too long to NOT think that some of this stuff isn't accidental....I'm sorry.

No matter WHAT you do for folks - you can't just give someone a concussion. There are consequences to be paid.

Most of us live under these same rules...why can't our athletes?

7 games is ok, but unfortunately I just don't think that until someone gets punished GOOD will some of these repeat offenders get it in their heads - "Wow. They nailed Metta. I'd better NOT give someone a cheapshot."

Once a player has a psychological fear that they must behave, they will behave.

My honest hope for Metta, even though I can't stand LA, is that he gets it and continues to do the good for the NBA and others like he has - and DON'T try to send messages to rivals.

Do it with your play - not your elbows.

I actually don't think harsh punishment works as a deterrent like you think it will.

If the Clippers lose tonight the lakers lock in the third seed and one of those suspended games will be meaningless anyway.
