Lets say we want one of the top 5 prospects, not Anthony Davis  but lets say but lets say Andre Drummond, Kidd-Gilchrist or my favorite guy, Thomas Robinson

How far up the draft does packaging our 2 first round picks move us? And if thats not enough how far  does Keyon Dooling and both first rounders get us? ;)

Is either package enough to move up (if we wanted to)?

Using both first rounders to move up would not get us in the top 10 picks. Adding Dooling would do absolutely nothing as far as a better draft pick. Everyone wants to trade him because he has been playing bad but that's also why other teams don't want him.

And if thats not enough how far  does Keyon Dooling and both first rounders get us?

Packaging both 1st's (which are in the 20's) gets us up to the mid-teens at best.

And I think the Dooling comment is a joke, because I laughed at it.

HAHAHA hilarious. I laughed too.. for a top 5 pick, im guessing we'd have to give up a combo of Bradley PLUS either JJJ or Moore and both our picks.. which I wouldnt do...

Will it really be enough for a Top 5?

I think so, but it prolly still wouldnt fly.. Danny Ainge thinks Avery Bradley woulda been a top 5 pick this year.. I kind of agree

The two first round picks get the Celtics up to 15th.

With Keyon, the phone gets hung up.

to get to the top 5?  Probably would require trading Rondo and probably the better of the 2 picks.  and that's probably just for pick 4 or 5.  wouldn't be surprised if it cost Rondo and both picks and possibly Bradley too.

to get one of the top 3 picks, at least Rondo, Bradley, JJJ, this year's first rounders, Steimsma (S&T) if not Bass (S&T) instead of Steimsma.  C's would also most likely have to take back some crappy players for salary purposes or a mediocre player on a crappy contact.

not worth it.  I like our young players and many of the guys we can bring back.  I'm a pure homer and really value our players but realize the gm's that win the lottery are looking at pure gold and it will cost plenty to get it.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
It'll take Rondo or Pierce or multiple future picks + Avery Bradley + another player + cash. All this along with the better of the two 1st round pick.

In 2008 the Rockets traded picks 27 and 33 for the 19th pick. Going by this trade I would figure that the Cs two picks ( say 22 and 23) should net them a pick in the 13-16 range as long as a team is willing to move and wants additional young players. With the addition of JJJ the Cs might be able to crack the top 12. But the team trading down will really have to be willing to add a bunch of young players.

In 2008, the Rockets gave up the 25th pick (Nicolas Batum) in a three-way trade and got back the 28th pick (Donte Green), the 33rd pick (Joey Dorsey), and a future 2nd round pick (Sam Young).

The two first round picks probably can be combined to move up in the draft 3-4 slots ahead of the better first round pick.

I think #15 could land them someone really worthwhile.  But if the C's insist on bundling Dooling in there, I don't think they get higher than #18.

This year, we have 2 first and 2 second rounders? That's a lot of space and stuff to trade.

Hypothetically, if everything goes like this: http://nbadraft.net/2012mock_draft

I'm thinking of several options to trade with New Orleans for Gilchrist:

Quote
1 first rounder + 1 second rounder + Dooling
                     or
2 first rounders + Dooling
                     or
1 first rounder + Sean Williams + cash
                     or
all 4 pics for Gilchrist and Kaman/Gordon

The reason i chose NO is because they're the best team out of those first five, and a better team is more likely to trade a draft pick, unlike the Bobcats, Cavs, Kings and Wizards. I see no reason why they shouldn't say yes.

When you lose, the easy part is to see who gives up. Giving up is very simple. You basically take your stuff and walk away. To continue to work and to continue to compete is one of the most difficult things, especially when you really don't have anything - KG

Say all 4 picks for MKG and I'm in for it. Can't see it happening, though.
