I really, really don't get the infatuation with this guy. He's good but if I had a choice I wouldn't want to have my dad coach me (no offense dad). Plus aren't wings supposed to be the easiest position to fill?
name good shooting guards in the league other than ray allen, kobe, and d wade? exactly.  Austin has a little game from each of these guys named. Its called talent.

Ummm no... the fact that we know no FA center is coming here in the offseason, and we dont have the assets to trade for one... this draft DA better draft a center. Forget all this trading up for rivers stuff, if anything I think another year in college would have been beneficial for him. If we trade up, theres a ton of other people id go for in that range.  I mean if doc wasnt coach would anyone be making these threads?...seriously?
You develop in the pros, not in college. thats why young players like anthony davis are sought after highly.

Eric Gordon, James Harden, Joe Johnson, Kevin Martin, Monta Ellis, Manu Ginobili, Tyreke Evans

Austin really is nothing special. He doesn't have elite size, speed, athleticism, passing ability, rebounding ability, he's an above average shooter and one-on-one scorer and that's about it right now.

I wonder if the traditional, pure-scoring SG is becoming obsolete. I've heard people say this.

Out of the next top SGs, only Harden fits the bill of a traditional SG but I've heard he can run the offense a little.

Paul George and Gordon Hayward can both be small forwards. OJ Mayo, Monta Ellis and Eric Gordon are undersized and look like they're working towards becoming playmakers.

Oh. Marshon Brookes. Forgot about him. He's playing for the Nets though and I agree with those who say we have to wait and see if it's all fluff and no substance.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
As crazy as this sounds. I'd rather trade a 1st and a 2nd to Sacramento for Marcus Thornton than trade both 1st for Austin.

I don't know why, but I see them as pretty similar players. Austin is probably more athletic but they are the same players for me.

Oh, and Sac town would do that deal too. (I believe)
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Heh... I wasn't even part of this debate... I just think it's funny that you hear some rumors that the celtics MIGHT be MAYBE trying to POSSIBLY trade up for Austin Rivers according to "sources" and you're response is, "Told ya so!"...

at least wait to see if it actually happens to start howling "I told you so".  Jeeze.

If that was the price I would absolutely do that...I wouldn't want to trade Bradley though.

both first rounders ...HAA HAA got to be kidding.  I not even sure he is worth either to the Celtics , unless they are going to trade him . We need NBA ready player Royce White , or NBA FA , we we are bringing KG back.

Need a Center to make a run . An NBA FA ...

Rivers other than trade bait is worthless to the Celtics upcomming season , AB is already in tune with Rondo and KG and Pierce.

Don't need another kid to sit on the bench...got Moore and JJJ already.

Yes, because GM's and Coaches never make decisions that even fans think are dumb.

Oh wait...

orlando's former GM is a former GM for a reason. you cant use the worst GM in the league as proof that trading for austin rivers by danny ainge, the master GM, is a bad decision.  thats just clueless

I do it, yes. You win with stars, not with 15 preety darn good guys on your roster.

If they think he can be a star, than go do it.
