It sounds like he's finally healthy and I think he would make an excellent addition to the 2nd unit.  Dooling is not a 2-guard and has been woeful (save last night) all year.  Sounds like the Mavs are in on Kelenna, but we might be able to offer him more playing time.

Azubuike has not played in the league since early in the 2009-10 season. Because he has been out of action so long, Azubuike will likely begin his comeback with the Texas Legends in Frisco. He is expected to be in uniform Saturday night for the Legends and as soon as he sufficiently knocks off the rust, he would join the Mavericks.

At one time, he was considered one of the best athletic talents in the league when the 6-5 swingman was with the Warriors. He was part of the 2007 team that beat the Mavericks in the first round.

Born in London, England, he grew up in Tulsa and went to college at Kentucky, leaving as a junior.

In 2008-09, he averaged 14.4 points and 5.0 rebounds for the Warriors.

The Mavericks clearly had their eyes on Azubuike when they waived Sean Williams on Thursday. That opened up a roster spot.

There's a difference between not being interested in a guy, and being asleep at the wheel.  Danny may be wrong in terms of his talent evaluation, but I doubt that his failure to sign guys is due to him not doing his diligence.

Why are people desperate for a back-up wing? I understand the frustration with the Center position, but Pierce/Allen/Pietrus/ Bradley hasn't been the problem.

Your point is fair, Roy, but I remember reading somewhere that Danny liked Azuibuke and is familiar with him because he played with Rondo at Kentucky.  If Azuibuke is indeed healthy, then he's light years better than Dooling, Marquis or Sasha.  I just feel that Danny is focusing so much on obtaining a big, that he's got his blinders on and is not even considering another wing.  Keyon Dooling is NOT a 2-guard, and it's fair to say that Daniels and Sasha probably shouldn't even be in the league.  If he's not thinking about upgrading these positions, then he is indeed, "asleep at the wheel".

We are desperate for a back-up wing, because we have three wing players (Dooling, Daniels, and Sasha) who are downright awful.  I don't consider Bradley a wing, because he's a back-up PG, so remove him from the equation.  Terrence Williams, Azuibuke, and even a guy like Rashad McCants would all be better than the aforementioned non-contributing trio.

Yeah, it's such a shame Danny doesn't take career advice from anonymous internet posters who haven't seen this kid on a basketball court in almost 2 years and is a serious injury concern.

I would have really liked to have had Azuibuke. Though, he is pretty much a Pietrus clone. They have the exact same type of game and even played together at GS. He and Rondo also have a history together which would have fit in nice. Oh well, if we can keep Pietrus next year, it'll be just the same.

Aside from the obvious (Danny doesn't get the right of first refusal on all available players), when you get to the playoffs the 4th big is much more likely to see significant playing time than the 4th wing. PP/Ray/Pietrus will get almost all of the playoff wing minutes, Bradley might see a few paired with Rondo in the backcourt as well.

Why do we need somebody of this kind? Now we have pretty solid 4 man bench  for playoffs - Bass, Steam, Petrius and Bradley. Guard's substitution is not as critical as forward's or center's ones
