Lets not derail this thread into a Perkins vs Steimsma thread.

Both are mediocre players that are only critical because during this era of the NBA, centers that play defense are extremely rare.
I actually started the comparison not to knock perk (or stiemsma) but to point out that as a backup and really a guy developing into a backup for next year, greg is good and I hope we resign him.  Some people on here think perk is the greatest thing since bread came sliced.  He is  a good (if not best) low post defender in the nba and also a good shot blocker.  Steamer could develop really nicely so I feel we SHOULD resign him, he already has the nice jumper, his shot blocking is right up there with best in league (top 5? or 10 for sure) so with some hard work he could really be a find.
Anyone remember perks first years, he was a lump of coal in the rough but he worked hard to improve.  And yes h.s. compared to college but perks 5th year in nba how different did he look from siemsma?  I don't think greg will EVER have the low post defense of perk.  His help defense and shot blocking for a rookie is awesome!  His pick & pop or face up jumper is good.  Seems to have a good handle on the game.  I would hope the c's think of greg much like bradley they both could turn into very good backups in the nba.

What I don't get is what seems to be this irrational hatred of Perk.  The only people that ever seem to complain about what Perk brings to the table, or how much he's paid, are Celtics fans.

I don't have an irrational hatred of Perk.  I do have a quite rational hatred of people who keep whining about the trade of Perk.

Pretty much this.  And the people who think he's any better than Zaza Pachulia.

Here is what's funny. You were the first guy in this thread to mention Perkins and no one in this thread was whining about the trade. Facts stink.
