Monta Ellis. The guy can score on any day. I wonder how he would have fit between Rondo and Jeff Green. I think I would have liked that very, very much. As much as I love Ray, it would be foolish not to package Ray with the Bucks' 2nd and our 2nd to get Ellis. I might have traded a top-10 protected 1st with a pile of expirings (JO, Wilcox, Dooling) to see that come together.
I would have tried harder for Monta for sure.
Milsap or another solid MLE-level big worth his money. The Clippers' 1st plus JO's expiring? A dream next to the three above (if Ray had to go).
I can't imagine the other teams not rejecting these trades.
It depends on what someone thinks of Bogut/Jackson for Ellis. Both very damanged goods. I'd rather have a decent 1st and expirings.
For Milsap, they're just loaded at the position and would perhaps move him for a 1st+filler as well.
And then you have
Rondo
Ellis
JGreen
Milsap
With Pierce off the bench (or starting for Green) and KG in the middle, that's a formidable top-6 lineup.
Sub Okafor for Ellis and I don't like it as much. A Green, Milsap, Okafor front line would need a top-scoring SG next to Rondo.
Sub Okafor for Milsap and I like it quite a lot again, still with KG and Pierce, but not so good for the money.
Ellis moved. Okafor and Milsap should have. I wouldn't have held Ray's price so high. I'd have let picks go for a chance to contend with proven players. It's too hard to make a contender to cheap out on one when you're 2 players away and have dead weight and picks. I'm rambling now. Just wish something would have happened at least...
