So wait. Isn't Danny Ainge the same guy who said he wasn't going to make the same mistake that Red made and end up with three aging superstars? Guess he must have changed his mind.  Maybe there was nothing he could do, but it makes no sense. This team's front court is so weak it is painful. Danny must be happy with a first or second round out in the playoffs.

our old guys are expiring in a couple of months, so I think Danny will be happy with the cap space and two 1st rounders in a deep draft. He was a wise man and planned well, there was no need to panic

Just curious, what superstars will be available for that cap space? Answer, none.

for the first time - and i say this to make it clear i don't sit on the fence and then just go any way the wind blows - i am quite content that Danny didn't make a deal this week.

oh sure, i would have been very happy if he could have managed to find a center that we obviously need, but i didn't want it at the expense of trading the Big 3 or Rondo.

Red used to say that 1 year is not a very long time - he showed patience a couple of times when the Celts were down and in rebuilding mode. he didn't just go for any player that happen to be available. he waited to get the guys he knew would fit in as a Celtic.

let Paul, Ray Ray and KG play it out this year and then we will be in a great position to rebuild ....... and that may take more than one summer this time. i read recently how grateful Kevin McHale was to Red that he retired a Celtic and i'm sure Pierce feels the same way and probably Allen and Garnett as well.

the Celtics have always been a unique franchise in the NBA and i, for one, would like to stay that way as much as we can now that we have sold our souls to the "Fleet Center TD Garden" and the "Celtic Dancers." let's keep a little bit of what has always made this a special place to play.

The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Cap space can be used in trades.

So are people really happy with a team that boasts a big man lineup of KG, Bass and Stiemsma?

I believe it's won 7 of its last 10 games.

Are some people always just unhappy?

You are talking about vinnie, the king of pessimism :D

Can't please anyone can they? Do you people realize that there is nothing will help us significantly to contend this year? I don't think trading any of the core would help. I say, ride it out until we lose in the playoffs.

Last year, everyone was mad on Danny for trading Perk, Erden and half of the bench. This season, everyone is mad on Danny for doing nothing? Danny can't really please you guys.

People forget that there is still big fishes in 2013 Free Agency. If were bound to mediocority next season, so be it. I'll swallow it if it will makes us better for the future.

Teams don't always go becoming a contender over a year.

And last year is when Danny probably could have gotten something for KG and Ray.  What would have been the reaction if Danny had made some the deals last year that people are so angry at him for not making now?

to be honest, I dont quite get being upset with danny ainge for not making a move..

would you guys want danny to move the big 3 for 50cents on the dollar?? I would expect the same people(felger etc.) would be crucifying danny for doing a bad deal...

fact is, these guys are Coming off the books this summer...danny doesnt have to make a move to "clear space" so he went to see if he could get any QUALITY youth, picks for our big 3.

the sad fact is, no one put value on those guys so danny stood pat...now he goes into thie summer with pierce, rondo, alot of capspace and 2 first round picks...not bad for a rebuilding team

Would have been thrilled with 3 first round picks, one each for the big 3, plus expirings where necessary.  We suck, get a lottery pick of our own and 4 other first round picks, to take, or deal for better picks or players!  Now we've got squat, except for cap space that we can't use, cause there are no good FA's next year, or because noone wants to play in Boston!

So basiclaly blow up the team and stink for the next unspecified amount of time? No thnaks. I'd rather compete now and worry about the future later. If we can steal another banner in the meantime, I'll be a happy man lol.

He said he wouldn't pass on good trades for his veterans, not that he would take whatever he could get.

people are acting as if Danny was offered the first five picks of the draft for Ray Allen and he stubbornly said no

Not to mention the league is a very one when Bird and McHale were playing. While Free Angency is harder under the new CBA, there is a lot more player movement now than there was then.

Something people forget about rookies is that they need got vets around to learn from, or else they end up like Antone Walker, Andre Blatche, and Javale Mcgee. If we had traded the big 3 for picks, who's going to show them the way? We would become the wizards overnight.
