I wonder if Danny gets any sleep this time of year.
I moved the cheese.

If he steals a player and a pick for Ray, that might out do the BBD/Bass deal.

I like that Ainge is asking for the world when it comes to the big 4.  Someone other than Larry Bird just might give in to him.

If were talking post 08', drafting Avery Bradley could turn out to be the best move yet.  Yet to be determined, but the 21 year old keeps getting better, and better, and better...There is a reason Ainge is getting calls about the young kid already.  Also, what he does with 2 1st round picks in a deep & special draft could add to his post 08' great moves.

Absolutely. Remember when Ainge said that AB would have been a lottery pick in last year's draft, and people laughed? Not quite so funny now!

I always like Avery - it was just a matter of time. The kid was a 19 year old rookie who missed training camp in year one, didn't have one this year - yet he's producing.

He's tough both mentally and physically - and he has elite athleticism and a nose for the ball on D and the rim on O.

If he keeps improving his ball handling, which has actually showed significant improvement over last year - he'll be able to get anywhere he wants on the floor.

The only trades or non-signings I really hated was moving Semih - I really liked him as a back up center - and not re-signing Tony Allen.

Perkins was one of my all time favorite Celtics - but I'd still rather have Jeff Green and the Clipper's pick than Perkins at $10 $11 million per year.

I think Danny has done a great job every year in putting together a legit title contender with the following exceptions:
2009 - Very weak bench, wanted Birdman over POB. But even still had KG and then Powe not gotten injured we might have pulled off a ring that year anyway.

2012 - this year - great job with one regret - that we weren't able to sign one legit big man in addition to Wilcox.

It's been unusual injuries, more than Danny under performing, that has resulted in us having only one title at this point.

2009 - KG, who's been healthy his entire career, goes down.

2010 - Perkins blows out a knee in game 6 of finals? When has that happened before?

2011 - If Rondo and Shaq don't get injured I really do believe we raise another title. We were shredding teams, including Miami, when Shaq was able to play even 15 minutes a night.

Drafts? No GM hits every time. The only one that stung me was Giddens. I had DeAndre Jordan in my draft. But I also like Joe Alexander when he came out....and I wanted Kevin martin and David Harrison over TAllen and Delonte West...

It sounds like Danny is asking for the sky and the moon, happy to hear it.

I just hope when the dust settles and the deals are made we're happy with the results.

Otis Smith seems to hate Glen Davis.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Not big on a Ray deal unless it makes us at least as good now (or contains a lotto pick - that won't happen).

Ray's value to this team goes beyond his talent on the floor. His talent on the floor still makes us competitive (and better than our record suggests).

People that cite Danny's complaint that Bird and McHale should have been moved to get something for them at the end, aren't looking at the fact that this is a very different NBA than it was in that era. Danny gets back 30 mil + on just Ray and KG alone next year. That and our existing picks (and Jermaine O'Neal's salary) should give him plenty of options for next year (including signing Ray for less).

Let's get better for this year and worry about next year when the season is over.

I agree, but if we have to part with Ray to bolster our depleted front line, I am begrudgingly on board.  Of course, I'd rather bring back a serviceable big by not having to give up any of our core group which I think is still a possibility.

Danny has been terrible as a GM post-2008

Hes singed either often injured old vets, or non-impact players.

Only good thing hes really done since 2008 is flip Baby for Bass.

Flippin Eddie and Walker for Nate was a very underrated move. Drafting Semih was a good pick. Not resigning Posey was a good bad call.

fixed  ;)

Not at all fixed. Pose has been terrible since 08 and we were a championship calibre team the following two years.
Not signing Posey was a great move. Not signing TA was probably a mistake.

I can't really blame Danny for much. I myself wanted it both ways. I wanted to compete this year, but not giving up draft picks to do it. I don't think the future was worth squeezing out one more run that probably would have ended in the 2nd round or something
