Say what you will, but as these rumors filter through over the last week, and all season, you have to get the sense that Danny is as hard-working and creative a GM as you can ask for.

From the CP3 rumors, to David West, dealing with Green's injury and picking up Pietrus, the Baby/Bass fleecing, the JO and Wilcox injuries, all mixed up with the uncertainty about whether to blow it up or not - in a lockout-shortened season - this has been a crazy year.

At this point, you get the sense that in the last 6 months Danny has probably kicked the tires on nearly every possible deal out there, major and minor, and has assessed the market value of every single player on his roster in about 9 different ways.

All this, when the easy way out would be to play out the year, let the big contracts expire, and overpay for a couple of Tier 2 FAs just to keep us mediocre for the next few years.

Not everything he tries works out perfectly, but I appreciate what he's trying to do, and how hard he seems to work.

Danny has been terrible as a GM post-2008

Hes singed either often injured old vets, or non-impact players.

Only good thing hes really done since 2008 is flip Baby for Bass.

Flippin Eddie and Walker for Nate was a very underrated move. Drafting Semih was a good pick. Not resigning Posey was a good call.

When all you have is the MLE and LLE, you have to roll the dice on often injured old vets. Who were the better centers available in 2009 and 2010 for the MLE, instead of Sheed and JO?

Also, Avery Bradley has turned out to be a good player, JJJ and Moore have potential, Wilcox was a good signing for the money before the heart problems, and so on.

Only really questionable move was the Perkins trade, but even then I understand the rationale.

It is not like Ainge had multiple picks or cap space since 2008.

Not at all fixed. Pose has been terrible since 08 and we were a championship calibre team the following two years.

Well that is what he had to do with the resources available.

When your roster starts with 3 near max contract guys and Rondo, how else are you going to fill it out?

Look at Miami's supporting cast. It's pathetic. I think Danny has done a better job that Riley has the past two offseasons.

Yes, I'll give him credit for giving his best effort to put a competitive team on the floor.

However, I question his ability as a talent evaluator.

Posey was actually pretty decent in 09/10, and ok in 10/11.  Probably would have been better playing for a good team (C's).  We could have used him.  His contract would not have hurt us, as some people seem to be misguided into thinking.  His contract is up this offseason, right as all our other big contracts are expiring and it would not have precluded us from signing a single player we have in the time since.

IT WAS A MISTAKE

No problems if you disagree though, it's over and done with, and I was just just being snarky anyways.

Here's a TP for your troubles.

His contract would not have hurt us? I doubt that the owners would have allowed the celtics to sign anyone for the MLE if his deal was in the books. Add the tax and it would have been 10 millions on the roster. For a player that played decently half a season.

sorry the way he played after he left didnt justify the amount or length of his contract.

the only moves i didnt like were not resigning tony and trading semih for roster space.

I find it funny that you ignore the best move he made seeing as he is in your sig.

Signing Rondo to that contract was fantastic. Question the player, whether you want to trade him, whether we can build around him or not, that is one of the best contracts in the league.

Posey was worth his contract for much of the first season. Signing him to that deal would have been a big blunder.

Can we still get Krstic back? Don't know how much they pay their centers in Russia.
I moved the cheese.

It depends on how you value the success of a GM. Ainge did a brilliant job putting together a team that was a championship winner and contender for a few seasons. The Celtics are still a good team, but father time has caught up to them. His acquisitions of Bass & Pietrus can help the Celtics build moving forward.
